As a member of the flying squad, the Manager - Security Architect will be responsible to design, implement, and maintain a robust and effective security infrastructure at MTN with an aim to minimize risks and protect MTN’s assets and operations.

The Manager - Security Architect will leverage various tools and practices in protecting the MTN's information assets, systems, networks, and data from potential security threats and breaches. They will ensure that security controls are integrated into the design and implementation process, considering factors such as data confidentiality, integrity, availability, and regulatory compliances. They will apply industry best practices and principles to create resilient and reliable security architectures.

They will conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities. 

They will collaborate with other squad members to integrate security architecture across all operations in MTN Software Solutions.

The Manager – Security Architect will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the MTN's security architecture, including designing security solutions and frameworks that align with business objectives
  • Implement the overall security architecture in MTN. This involves analyzing existing systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and proposing security solutions
  • Support in safeguarding the MTN's information assets, systems, and networks against potential security threats
  • Conduct security assessments and penetration testing using tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nessus or Web Application Scanners etc. Identify security risks and vulnerabilities and propose appropriate countermeasures.
  • Support implementation of security controls, technologies, and tools to protect the MTN's network, systems, and data. Configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems, data encryption, access controls, and other security measures
  • Develop and maintain security operation processes and procedures, including incident response, vulnerability management, patch management, and security monitoring
  • Collaborate with respective stakeholders to ensure effective incident detection, analysis, and response
  • Lead incident response activities, including investigating, containment, and analyzing security incidents, identifying root causes, recovery and recommending remediation measures to prevent future incidents
  • Prepare security reports and metrics for management and stakeholders
  • Use Data Loss Prevention tools to monitor and control the flow of sensitive data within the organization, preventing unauthorized disclosure or loss.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and threat modeling exercises to identify and prioritize security risks
  • Actively participate in scrum events, provide regular updates on security infrastructure, and effectively communicate impediments, status updates, security infrastructure test results and findings to facilitate effective decision making
  • Foster seamless collaboration and communication within the Software CoE team
  • Seek opportunities to enhance security infrastructure, methodologies, and tools within the agile environment. Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving security measures and effectiveness. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging practices in security architecture to continuously improve skills and knowledge
  • Adapt to changing requirements, priorities, and project timelines. Be open to learning new technologies, methodologies, and tools as the software development landscape evolves. Demonstrate flexibility in supporting the team's needs and taking on additional responsibilities as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics and Communication
  • Post graduate degree in Computer Science /Cyber Security /or equivalent professional qualification (Preferred)
  • Certification in CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)

Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant working experience 
  • 4-5 years of experience in security architecture, application and implementation
  • Experience in emerging telecom-based security architecture (Preferred to have)
  • Strong knowledge of telecom industry systems, protocols, and standards (Preferred to have)
  • Expertise in security solutions, frameworks and methodologies
  • Expertise in incident management, vulnerability management and patch management

Skills:

  • Proficiency in security assessment tools (Firewall/VPN/IDS/IPS/SSO-IAM/MFA/SEIM etc.)
  • Proficiency in Incident Response Platforms and Forensic Analysis Tools
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions to maintain system stability and performance
