The ROLE

The Director of IT Operations is responsible for the overall direction, management, uptime and technical oversight of the global Syniti IT operations team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the enterprise environment including installation, configuration, documentation, upgrading, automation, governance (ITIL, etc) and technical support related to all areas of server software, hardware (desktop and server), network and security.  Director of IT Operations will be equally comfortable with on-premises and cloud technologies.  Embodying a data driven model they will monitor and analyze the enterprise environment to ensure a high level of performance, security, and integrity throughout, while abiding by industry, regional and corporate standards. The incumbent will also maintain relationships with internal and external customers using a high level of service, trust and security. The ability to quickly assess a need, propose/lead a project, implement with minimal supervision and work cooperatively and establish positive relationships with cross-functional teams and vendors is essential for the role.  The successful candidate will be a change agent within IT and the organization leading on compliance and governance.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

IT Operations

  • Establish and maintain a customer-centric and global service-oriented culture for all operational, support and project responsibilities driven by data and KPI measurements.
  • Ensure defined SLAs are met and a culture of continuous improvement is maintained across help desk, server uptime and network resiliency. 
  • Control costs and resourcing for both operational activities and projects. 
  • Administer and lead of Syniti Server Infrastructure components, including but not limited to:
    • Cloud infrastructures AWS/Azure
    • 0365 management
    • VMware technologies
    • Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory environment
    • Linux technologies
    • Enterprise disaster recovery systems
    • Networking
    • Firewalls
  • Monitor server and network infrastructure for performance, security, and integrity using industry standard utilities and monitoring tools.
  • Perform information assurance activities: patching, scanning and documenting vulnerability remediation plans.
  • Propose and implement automations within infrastructure that will reduce level of effort and improve services.
  • Proactively manage resources and risks effectively preventing outages and unplanned resource needs.

 

Management

  • Establish and maintain controls and adherence to policies within the organization through ITIL, SOC and ISO frameworks.
  • Lead and participate in Change Control process particularly in release management.
  • Manage help desk through key performance indicators and set client first mentality within the team.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to plan, hire, coach, motivate, and lead the team to their optimum performance levels and career development.
  • Document process and architecture narratives; documents, corrects and communicates any variances from defined standard; identifies and recommends material improvement opportunities to management.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Server Infrastructure and Help Desk teams to resolve issues, focus efforts, identify and prioritize needs, develop project justifications, IT budgets, schedules and resource plans.
  • Monitor trends, research and propose new solutions which would benefit the company.

 

Information Security

  • Active member of the Cyber Security Steering Group for Syniti.
  • Lead a virtual and cross-functional Cyber Incident Response Team for IT operations for any incidents. 
  • Continual engagement and partnership with CISO to ensure highest possible protection to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all Syniti, regulatory (in countries of operations) and industry standards.
  • Assess risk, events and ensure best practices are utilized.
  • Ensure compliance in staff education on Information Security Awareness.

 

 

WHAT IT TAKES

  • Expert at implementing and maintaining highly available environments.
  • Expert at designing, configuring, implementing and supporting enterprise level systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with infrastructure architectures and web-based applications in a production support capacity required.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills. Ability to organize and execute on multiple high priority tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable expertise working independently as well as in teams, and successfully managing projects to completion.
  • 5+ years of managing high performing teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise level Cisco networks in a distributed environment.
  • Lean experience a plus
  • IT Change Management process
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience installing and supporting hardware, software and operating systems in an enterprise level Microsoft Windows Environment.
  • 5+ years managing vendors and service providers delivering to stated objectives.
