Position Overview 

Legato Security is seeking a Firewall Engineer to take on an exciting role in Salt Lake City, UT! This advanced security role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals aiming to enhance their expertise and progress in the cybersecurity field. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Security Operations and will be responsible for network engineering tasks related to firewall administration, network design, network security, and network troubleshooting. 

Specific Job Responsibilities 

  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging, planning, and performing upgrades, patches, and updates according to client-specific change management process
  • Investigating and troubleshooting network-related issues
  • Configuration and management of secure VPN tunnels
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Work closely with security engineers to provide log visibility, security alerting, and other needs related to client contract requirements
  • Performing configuration reviews and reporting recommendations to internal staff as well as to clients 

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar industry experience in cyber security, information technology, network administration, or similar field
  • Five years of industry experience in network administration, management, or engineering. Experience working in a managed service environment is highly desirable
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; someone who ‘sees’ the box differently
  • Experience developing and managing remediation plans/corrective actions
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, information security, and compliance controls
  • Proficient with multiple operating environments, especially Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco environments
  • Experience using an IT Service Management (ITSM) platform for managing requests, incidents, and changes
  • Familiarity with modern exploit techniques, mitigation strategies, and counter-attack methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of information technology and information security, including IDS/IPS, penetration testing, SIEM, and other security tools, is highly desired
  • Highly motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborative team player
  • This position may be a remote position for the right candidate, but a location within commuting distance of Salt Lake City, UT is preferred as some collaboration in person with team members may be needed. Local candidates may work a hybrid in-office/WFH schedule
