The roles are within the Avionic Systems – Systems Engineering team, which is a part of the Technical Disciplines Group within the Engineering Directorate.
Avionic System Engineering is the focal point in the Engineering Department for definition, development, integration and certification of Avionic systems.
Avionic System Engineer interfaces with the Engineering functions like Software Engineering, Airframe and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Advanced Diagnostic, Airworthiness, Chief Projects offices (CPE), Experimental Department, Flight Test Engineering (FTE) and also outside the Engineering perimeter like with Program Management (PM), Procurement, Production Plants and Flight Line, Customer Support.

The Avionic Connectivity and Cyber Specialist is an avionic System Engineer focused on these specific tasks:
- create design technical specifications and define the corresponding system/sub-system requirements for the on-board Avionics of a “connected aircraft” as well as the ground infrastructure;
- lead the architecture definition derived from end customer requirements (Company internal or aircraft’s Operators), Leonardo Information Technology/Security policies and certification requirements;
- prepare and execute bench test procedures and aircraft test procedures for the Avionics connected to ground, take part in aircraft trials, including off-site test ranges;
- identify the risks derived from information security threats and applicable to Avionics under analysis performing threat analysis based on vulnerability assessment and penetration testing;
- apply system modeling methods to the assessment of the avionic networks, systems, sub-systems and data. This will lead to the identification of the assets, the security perimeter and the security environment;
- find the corresponding solutions to be developed to make the risks acceptable;
- provide input into regulatory responses to meet security certification requirements including the ones related to avionics continued airworthiness.

Requirements

• University Degree or equivalent in technical field: Electronic, Telecommunication, Automation, Computer, Nuclear or Electrical Engineering; Aeronautical Engineering or other scientific discipline; 
• Proven background in the design, development, integration, qualification and certification of avionics systems (civil or military); 
• Proven background in the field of information technology and a desire to improve technical skills in cyber security;
• Desirable knowledge of systems engineering tools for requirements management (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS), and Model Based System Engineering development approach (e.g. UML/SysML tools); 
• Mandatory capability to work in cross-functional team environments;
• Focused to work in line with standards, rules and objectives;
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving;
• Good knowledge of English, written and spoken;
• The ability to work within a multi-disciplined team is essential.
