Software DevSecOps Engineer

Job Description

Your Responsibilities as a Software DevSecOps Engineer are to maintain the operations of our externally facing critical 24x7 "Software as a Service" systems.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support of the Product Delivery process, including production releases of critical externally facing products as well as staging and preparing testing and quality assurance environments.  Ensure all operations meet current HIPAA, ASIP and other relevant regulatory guidelines.  Work directly with the PMO to ensure all project release schedules are met.  
  • Maintaining appropriate and required compliance and regulatory requirements, involving key process controls and documentation.
  • Monitor and support production environments as part of a 24x7 support rotation for externally facing medical device software products.  Meet or exceed all operational KPI’s and SLA’s. 
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to enhance system reliability and security.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly diverse and fast paced team.  Identify, cultivate, and manage the necessary external relationships with third party providers such as data center hosts, hardware/software vendors and consulting firms.  
  • Automate infrastructure and security tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform security assessments and audits of cloud infrastructure.
  • Document procedures and create runbooks for operational tasks.
  • Provide system design and process guidance to both members of this team as well as the product engineering team to ensure security, performance and availability of all supported products.
  • On-call, overnight and weekend work is required to support off hour releases and production operations.  Please understand this is not a general statement, this position has strong areas of responsibility in overseas infrastructures and application deployments.   

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

The ideal candidates will possess elements of the following technical disciplines:

  • Experience in a regulated Healthcare setting or other highly regulated industry.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technology field.  
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in DevOps or Cloud Operations roles supporting external customer facing products.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware\storage, application hosting and networking in a physical or cloud-based SaaS models.  
  • Strong expertise in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC). Understanding of AWS network structuring, security groups, EC2 construction, S3 utilization, and IAM is preferred
  • Ability to effectively support and manage both Linux and Windows systems.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, New Relic, Prometheus).
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with rapidly changing development priorities while insuring performance and availability of production systems.
  • Long-term thinking and planning coupled with tactical execution and prioritization skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous working experience with Cloud Foundry, ELK, Vault, Kafka, or New Relic.
  • Working knowledge in supporting and\or administrating RabbitMQ, SQL Server, MongoDB/DocumentDB, or any document-based repository.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and/or scripting languages like Python.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
