The Digital Modernization Group at Leidos has an opening for a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern for the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This position requires onsite support and is located at Fort Meade MD.

Job Summary:

This position will support the DISA GSM-O II Task Number 07 (TN07) Joint Force Headquarters DODIN.  The selected candidate shall execute in real time, in accordance with mission requirements, ensure “authorized mission partners” have visibility and usability of proper operational capabilities.

A full-time and fully qualified Cybersecurity Analyst Intern is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities.

Duties:  Perform cyber threat intelligence analysis, correlate actionable security events, perform network traffic analysis using raw packet data, net flow, IDS, IPS and custom sensor output as it pertains to the cyber security of communications networks, and participate in the coordination of resources during incident response efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic enterprise defensive strategies for enterprise cyber security capabilities implemented within the infrastructure of the DODIN to include but not limited to Cloud, network boundaries, cross domains, and varying endpoint technologies.
  • Provide analysis of architectures, technologies, policies, information and analytic data used to determine prevention, detection, and mitigation of anomalous activity, vulnerabilities and inefficiencies.
  • Prepare and perform briefings appropriate for senior leadership (i.e., general officer or flag officer)
  • Perform cyber situational awareness activities and provide analysis and recommendations of situation awareness capabilities.
  • Provide enterprise-wide cybersecurity, threat analysis, countermeasures and defensive strategies across a multi-tiered, porous domain inclusive of Cloud, federated regional gateways, cross domain peering points, internet access points, and endpoints.
  • Development of operational supporting documents such as SOPs, TTPs and CONOPs.

As an intern, you would be expected to have academic knowledge of such areas of Cybersecurity and preferably have prior internships or personal/school project work for some hands-on skills.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Current enrollment in an Associate’s, Bachelor's or Master’s-granting program from accredited college/university in a relevant discipline is required for consideration.
  • Excellent written/verbal skills with the ability to interpret and author well-formed documents.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study and maintaining proficiency in the technical Cybersecurity domain.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance; Secret clearance is required to start (selected candidates will be sponsored for required clearance).
  • Ability to obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
  • Must be a US Citizen to qualify.
  • Work must be performed at Fort Meade, MD
  • To be considered for this internship, candidates must not have graduated prior to May 2025.  Candidates must be actively enrolled in a degree plan that extends into fall 2025.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently possess or able to able to obtain an active DoD TS/SCI clearance and eligible for C/I Polygraph.
  • In-depth understanding of military orders and the military decision-making process.
  • Proficient in Windows Desktop 7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10 
  • Knowledge of Windows server 2003/ 2008/ 2012 R2 
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment such as Microsoft Teams 
  • Knowledge of and a proficiency in using Computer and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak clearly and effectively with customers and technical personnel in high-stress situations 
  • A solid understanding of IP addressing and subnetting 
  • Understanding of key network monitoring protocols 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite

Pay Range:

Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
