As a Wood Graduate you will join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients.

The Role

Wood is deeply committed to the development of their people and recognises the importance of growing a talented team of professionals with expertise in Digital Consulting in order to ensure the future success of the organisation and the Energy sectors that we support.

As a Cybersecurity / Networking Graduate, you will be given on the job training and learn how to assist in the provision of cyber security, networking, secure architectures, solutions, vulnerability and risk assessments, technologies, and procedures to support Wood assignments / project teams and clients.

You will start by working on smaller projects under the guidance of a supervisor / mentor. During this time, you will learn to:

  • Assist in securing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Assess the robustness of cybersecurity architectures, technologies, and procedures within customer facilities
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments on client systems and network devices, considering the sensitivity of Operational Technology testing, and perform vulnerability testing on control systems and applications with guidance
  • Help design and implement secure networks and solutions that meet client requirements, including measures to mitigate security risks (e.g., antivirus software, patch management, insider threat protection, incident response plans, regulation compliance)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., functional safety team, control system team) to integrate security measures into new and existing systems and apply integration concepts to a wide variety of systems and across multiple vendor platforms
  • Assist in network design, implementation, and testing for networks supporting Integrated Automation and Control Systems Solutions
  • Assist in the Cyber Security and Network technical engineering aspects of automation project design and implementation
  • Prepare engineering studies and network and cyber design documentation
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting under supervision
  • Support the Engineers in accomplishing project objectives
  • Learn to resolve specialty-related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards
  • Use tools to help manage and report on project costs, schedules, and risks

At the end of the graduate scheme, you may choose to specialise in a specific area such as Securing Industrial Control Systems (ICS), ensuring compliance with industry standards, conducting risk assessments and management or focusing on cost planning and estimating. Alternatively, you might prefer to become a generalist, gaining a broad range of skills across various domains. There are multiple career paths available to suit your interests and strengths.
