UX/UI Engineer - Cybersecurity Hardware Products

1. User Research & Experience Design (Cybersecurity Context):

• Conduct user research to understand the specific needs of enterprise users interacting with cybersecurity hardware interfaces (e.g., management consoles, dashboards, and hardware configurations).
• Develop user personas and workflows tailored to cybersecurity professionals, system administrators, and IT managers who manage or monitor security hardware.
• Design intuitive user journeys and wireframes that simplify complex security features (e.g., encryption settings, threat alerts, and performance monitoring) for both technical and non-technical users.
• Ensure the product’s user experience prioritizes both security and usability by incorporating best practices from the cybersecurity industry.

• Design and develop interfaces for hardware devices, such as control panels, monitoring dashboards, and web-based configuration portals that provide secure, efficient interaction with cybersecurity hardware.
• Ensure designs are intuitive, providing users with clear, accessible ways to interact with complex cybersecurity features, such as encryption, intrusion detection, and system health monitoring.
• Collaborate with the hardware engineering team to integrate physical device interfaces (buttons, screens, etc.) with software interfaces, ensuring a seamless user experience.
• Create consistent design systems that incorporate cybersecurity themes, such as alert visibility, secure data handling, and role-based access control.

• Translate UI/UX designs into secure, responsive, and scalable front-end code using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React or Angular, ensuring compatibility with cybersecurity protocols.
• Optimize interfaces for real-time data handling, ensuring quick and efficient interaction with large datasets and logs generated by cybersecurity hardware.
• Implement secure development practices in front-end coding to safeguard the interfaces from potential vulnerabilities (e.g., cross-site scripting or man-in-the-middle attacks).
• Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to integrate security features, such as two-factor authentication (2FA), encrypted communications, and secure data storage, directly into the user interface.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, cybersecurity engineers, and hardware developers, to ensure the user interface meets both security and user requirements.
• Present design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders and collect feedback to iterate and refine the interface.
• Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure that all UI/UX designs comply with the latest security standards and are optimized for secure hardware-based environments.

• Regularly analyze user feedback, security data, and product performance to improve user interfaces and resolve any usability or security challenges.
• Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity technologies, trends, and threats to ensure the product’s interface remains secure and competitive in the market.
• Perform usability testing with real users in the cybersecurity space to validate design assumptions and make adjustments as necessary.

Requirements

1. Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience working as a UX/UI designer or front-end developer, preferably in cybersecurity or hardware-based products.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in designing and developing interfaces for enterprise-level software or hardware products, especially in cybersecurity or related industries.

• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience working with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols, encryption, secure authentication methods, and best practices for secure front-end development.
• Familiarity with creating dashboards and interfaces that display real-time security data, logs, and alerts.
• Experience optimizing UI performance for devices handling sensitive security data and large volumes of system logs.

• Ability to design interfaces that balance usability and security, ensuring that users can interact with complex cybersecurity hardware efficiently and safely.
• Strong knowledge of typography, layout, and color theory, especially when designing for security products where visibility and clarity of alerts and data are critical.
• Experience creating interfaces for role-based access control and ensuring secure, intuitive navigation for different user levels (e.g., admin vs. user).

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on solving user pain points in the context of cybersecurity.
• Detail-oriented with a deep understanding of how design and user experience affect security compliance and hardware usability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, balancing multiple projects and deadlines.

• Familiarity with hardware security modules (HSMs), encryption standards, and secure device management protocols.
• Understanding of zero-trust architecture and its impact on user interfaces for cybersecurity products.
• Knowledge of back-end security practices to enhance collaboration with security and software engineers.
