At VFI Security, we safeguard our programs, staff, and assets through comprehensive policies and procedures. As part of our dynamic team, you'll play a key role in risk prevention, mitigation, and response, ensuring the safety and security of our operations worldwide. We’re looking for a passionate intern who is eager to dive into the world of global security and make a meaningful difference. What You'll Do:

  • Enhance Security Training Programs: Support the rollout and coordination of security training sessions across our Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), ensuring that staff are well-prepared and informed.

  • Create and Populate Reporting Tools: Develop and populate Excel form templates to track and report on security training progress, helping us stay on top of our training goals.

  • Flag Security Requirements: Work with security focal points in MFIs to identify gaps in the implementation of core security and documentation and flag these to the VFI Senior Security Advisor.

  • Oversee Incident Management: Review and follow up on incident management processes both directly with MFIs and through our EthicsPoint system, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.

  • Monitor Global Risks: Identify and flag evolving global socio-political risks that could affect VFI staff and operations, aiding in strategic planning and response.

  • Collaborate in Coordination Meetings: Participate in meetings with World Vision Security regional and country teams, contributing to the alignment and execution of our security strategies.

Preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or French language desired.

What You Need to Know:

Details

  • Location: Remote within the US. You must be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Risk Management, Project Management, Information Security, Operations Management, Security Studies, Law Enforcement, International Affairs, Humanitarian Assistance Delivery, Business analysis, Communications, or related fields.

  • Internship Cohort Dates: 27 January – 25 April. 

  • Stipend: this internship is unpaid, but all US-based interns receive a monthly stipend of $800.

  • Hours: Full-time (20-40 hours/week)

Eligibility

All candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen/resident or F1-student visa) and have a valid US Social Security Number.

  • Able to commit to at least 20 hours per week for the entire internship period: 27 January – 25 April. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or in the final year of graduation. Current student or recent graduate from a graduate programme (within 2 years).

  • Adhere to World Vision International’s Christian Statement of Faith.

  • Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software in those devices.
