Information Systems Security Engineer

The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in system security engineering to help our country and assist our clients with critical missions? As a systems security and network security engineer, you can identify the Information System Security Manager needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to lead the development and implementation of security solutions that will protect our military.

On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of network and security devices, applications, and identifying tools. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your knowledge and experience you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.

In this role, you’ll closely impact the DoD by protecting infrastructure. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

  • Implement infrastructure and cyber security controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas, leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience working as an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)

  • 4+ years of experience guiding clients through the entire Risk Management Framework (RMF) process

  • Experience with achieving system certification, accreditation, assessment, and authorization, including IATTs and ATOs

  • Knowledge of the systems and software engineering management process and its implementation, as applied to DoD acquisition processes throughout all life cycle phases

  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy or DoD communication, cybersecurity, and IT systems

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • IAT or IAM Level II Certification, including GSEC, Sec+, CASP+, GICSP, CEH, CISM, or CISSP

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Experience with DoD STIGs

  • Experience with NNPPNet or SECNET

  • Ability to apply cybersecurity engineering methods to solutions development life cycle activities

  • Ability to research emerging technology and apply it to cutting-edge problems

  • Possession of excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity preferred; Master's degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity a plus

  • CISSP-ISSEP, CCSP, or CISM Certification preferred

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,300.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
