MBL Technologies is hiring an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in support of a federal agency. The individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the cyber security infrastructure for the agency.

This role will focus on ensuring the protection of sensitive government data, compliance with federal regulations, and the continuous monitoring and improvement of security postures. 


This role is contingent upon award of contract.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement cyber security strategies and policies aligned with federal regulations and agency specific requirements. 
  • Lead the design and deployment of secure architectures and systems to protect critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
  • Manage and coordinate the response to cyber security incidents, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery. 
  • Conduct forensic analysis of security breaches and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders. 
  • Oversee continuous monitoring of networks, systems, and applications to detect and mitigate potential threats. 
  • Utilize advanced tools and techniques, such as intrusion detection systems (IDS), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, to identify and respond to security incidents. 
  • Design, develop, and implement secure configurations for networks, systems, and applications. 
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security controls into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). 
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and address security gaps. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal standards and regulations, such as FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, and other relevant frameworks. 
  • Work with federal partners, vendors, and contractors to ensure cohesive security strategies and compliance. 
  • Prepare and present reports on the agency's security posture to senior leadership and relevant federal oversight bodies. 
  • Perform other official administrative tasks as assigned in support of the federal agency. 

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in a federal agency cyber security environment, with at least [3-5] years in a senior or lead role. 
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, threat landscape, and best practices.
  • Possess and maintain a cybersecurity-focused certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of federal cybersecurity requirements, including FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, and related frameworks. 
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and cyber security technologies. 
  • Proficiency in security tools (e.g., IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR), scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell), and forensics. 
  •  Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. 
  • Strong communication skills, leadership, and project management, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience working with Veterans Affairs preferred.
