Responsibilities

Peraton has a great opportunity for an Operations Manager in Chantilly, VA supporting our Intelligence Community (IC) customer. At the heart of national security, we've been embedded into this cutting-edge program for nearly a decade. You will be working in a rewarding, mission focused environment, cutting edge software design, development, and deployment, contributing to the protection and defense of national space assets. Your efforts will fundamentally change what Space Domain Awareness and Mission Protection means for our Nation.

 

Skyfire is a Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system. Its purpose is to establish a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), find RSOs of interest, and provide data to ground operators. Located in Chantilly, VA, the Skyfire team uses sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to deliver this world-class SDA I&W system. 

 

What you'll do:

 

The Operations Manager will lead the service tier 1, 2, and 3 teams to develop process, procedures, training, and accomplish the below:

  • Manage and perform user account creation and activation, password resets, privilege user assignment, group membership management, and GPO directory access control using a directory system. Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.
  • Create, organize and manage group policy objects and file shares with domain security compliance and usability as a priority.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues in response to Help Desk Tickets.
  • Provide diagnosis for system software / hardware failures and assist in developing solutions.
  • Provide accurate, detailed and timely updates to tickets and projects.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures, as needed.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, Raritan KVM (Dominion KX2, Command Center) and virtualization environment.
  • Maintain user security definitions and any other security system as required.
  • Monitor and support local SQL databases.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
  • Implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and fail-over procedures.
  • Must work on-site.
  • Travel is minimal

The Operations Manager may also be requested to lend SDA expertise to future business areas.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of space operations and engineering experience.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Solid hands-on experience with configuration, implementation, and administration of operating system deployment and software update management.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal or external customers, inwritten and oral format.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Desire excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical legacy systems and associated component functionalities.
  • Possess an active Security+ or CISSP.
  • Understanding of Agile development framework.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
