About this role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Engineering Finance Business Partner to support our Cyber Security, Chief Technology Office and the Engineering COO teams. This role will be pivotal in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, excellent analytical skills and business partnering experience. As the key liaison between the divisions and broader finance teams – including Contr­ollership and FP&A – the Finance Business Partner will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth alignment and execution of financial objectives, particularly in activities such as budgeting, investment business cases and month-end close.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support divisional engineering teams to deliver the 2024 financial plans with particular focus on robust investment cash management and analysis
  • Supervise month-end processes and work closely with divisions to understand performance and influence financials
  • Prepare monthly financial forecast, identifying opportunities and risk mitigation plans
  • Work with the programme management community to build investment business cases, ensuring robust tracking and delivery
  • Provide the People function with insights to support optimal organisational design decisions
  • Collaborate with Procurement to implement strategy on high-value deals and contract renewals
  • Deliver standardisation of processes and be a change agent to implement improvements
  • Work collaboratively with the partners to drive insights and provide challenge on how we optimally allocate resources
  • Support Change Strategy and the broader Finance community to embed insights such as TCO and Zero-Based Planning
  • Support and drive balance sheet clarity and depreciation breakdown by application to improve insights across engineering spend
  • Collaborate to develop metrics to drive insight and actions
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the leadership and wider teams, signposting effectively to use self-service finance processes – including purchase requisitioning and accounts payable

Key skills and experience:

  • 2+ years of Finance Business Partnering experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to model and manage large data in excel
  • Presenting outputs to senior partners and influencing decision-making
  • Working autonomously and critical thinking with the ability to tackle complex problems in a structured manner
  • Team working collaboratively with partners at all levels 
  • Preparing budgets and incorporating this into financial systems
  • Supervising month-end close and forecasting
  • Building business cases
  • Understanding of accounts payable and other financial processes
