This role will be designated for Discovery Land Company’s development division: set in East Quogue, NY.

The Hills is looking for a Safety and Security Development Manager to support both The Hills and Dune Deck Beach club projects.

The Community Safety & Security Development Manager is responsible for assisting the Corporate Director of Community Safety Development and Compliance with overseeing the onsite day to day operations and support ongoing efforts with a phased approach to a newly developing club to provide a world class experience for members, guests, and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all members of the Community Safety and Security Team (CSST) provide world class service to all members, guests, and employees.
  • Ensure team members have a thorough knowledge of all club amenities and services to assist members and support club operations.
  • Identify community safety threats, hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities and recommend mitigating strategies to help counter any potential threats, while ensuring the Community Safety Team maintains effective situational awareness.
  • Proactively address loss prevention and theft from Club premises. 
  • Assist in researching and deploying security technologies, systems, uniforms, equipment, devices, to include vehicle and person access control, perimeter security and effective CCTV coverage.
  • Ensure all safety and security related designs, technology, floorplans are meeting expectations and effective as they are being deployed.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for Community Safety resources or services.
  • Provide hands-on and daily operational management.
  • Create a proactive approach for securing assets located within the property’s boundaries working with departmental leadership across the club operation.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training personnel as needed to maintain effective staffing levels during day-to-day operations and during peak times.
  • Assist executive protection of VIP members and guests, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy. 
  • Oversee risk management and occupational health and safety to mitigate any risk associated with The Club activities during construction and transition to residential occupancy and special events.
  • Provide command, control and coordination of any critical incident that occurs on property and ensure key Club and Corporate management are notified and updated.  Work alongside local emergency services agencies, ensuring executive leadership and corporate leadership are informed of their involvement when working within the confines of the Club property. This will further require responding to the property during off hours in the event there is a significant incident in order to lead critical onsite investigations.
  • Meet with Corporate Director of Community Safety Development and Compliance weekly to review current activity, future planned activities, and the overall property operations and development.
  • Train staff to address life safety issues to include natural hazards and fire prevention.
  • Conduct no notice drills to ensure readiness and to test the effectiveness of Community Safety Team members as well as all Club Operations.
  • Lead internal investigations regarding security and safety on property and report findings to Corporate Director of Community Safety Development and Compliance.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with external stakeholders such as local, state, and federal law enforcement officials and other local law enforcement or medical providers.
  • Conduct briefings prior to any major Club events on or off property.
  • Conduct debriefs and after-action reviews after major club events or incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Business or Public Safety domain preferred.
  • Good driving record and the ability to maintain driver’s license.
  • Must maintain eligibility to lawfully carry a firearm.
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of large property security options, hotel operations a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive Protection experience preferred.
  • Prior Law Enforcement, Military or Hospitality executive level experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Professional, articulate and have the ability to use good, independent judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Resource management experience.
  • Knowledge of security systems management, including access control, CCTV and Ops Center operations.
  • Site security management experience.
  • Special event management experience.
  • Budget creation and management skills.
  • Experience in the development of governance and policy.
  • Experience in building, training, and motivating a security team and guard force.
  • Must be available to support and meet operational demands.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.

The compensation for the position is: 150,000-160,000 + Bonus.
