About the workplace

As the Manager of Security Architecture, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our security architecture framework. Your role will involve collaborating with various departments to ensure the security of our financial systems, applications, and data. You will lead a team of security professionals, drive security initiatives, and provide strategic direction to fortify our cybersecurity posture that align with Vancity’s overall vision to provide world-class cybersecurity protection.

 

This is a permanent, full-time role will enjoy hybrid/remote working arrangements which can be fulfilled from your home-based home office.

 

Candidates must be located in British Columbia, Alberta, or Ontario.

 

A typical day would involve:

  • Utilizing your strong leadership skills and coaching team members, facilitate career development, and nurture a culture of engagement and high performance.
  • Providing guidance and support to the business with a risk management approach while working with digital solutions team members in supporting an integrated security service portfolio.
  • Partner with the Vancity lines of business to apply good security practices and ensuring security is integrated into solution designs.
  • Ensure that security architecture practices comply with relevant financial regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, OSFI, NIST CSF, SWIFT).
  • Develop, implement and maintain security standards and procedures, including hardening guides and best common practices for key infrastructure.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate new capabilities via trials and Proof of Concepts.
  • Work with program, project and operational teams and leadership to assess the security risks of existing and solutions including their associated processes.
  • Ensures that the stakeholder security requirements necessary to protect the organization’s mission and business processes are adequately addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture including reference models, segment and solution architectures, and the resulting systems supporting those missions and business processes.
  • Assist Information Security leadership in the development of the security roadmap.

 

You have:

  • An undergraduate degree (usually in Computer Science, Engineering, or highly related field)
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in security architecture, cybersecurity, or related roles, with a focus on financial institutions or similar regulated environments.
  • Information Security Certifications in one or more of the following are required: CISSP, CISA, GISP, GSNA, GSE, CSP, SSCP, Security+
  • Information Technology Certifications in one or more of the following are required: MCITP, MCSE, CCNA, VCP, RHCE, MCAF
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and regulations pertinent to the financial industry.

  • Analytical & Decisive - with your strong problem solving and decision-making skills, you can diagnose challenges and issues; develop innovative investigative solutions; and to assess risks and opportunities that may affect the information security team.
  • Self Motivated – you are a self-motivated and inquisitive individual that takes initiative to follow through and deliver results without continuous supervision.

The salary range for the role is $102,200 to $153,200 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($127,700). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
