Cloud Security Intern

Summary

The Cloud Security Intern will work closely with the security and compliance team to support various security tasks, updates, monitoring, and incident response activities. Under the guidance of the IT Security Specialist, they will assist in executing security tasks, updating and monitoring security systems, and participating in incident response activities. The intern will gain exposure to security automation solutions, learn about the latest security threats and technologies, and contribute to patch management processes. This role offers an opportunity to develop practical skills in cybersecurity and cloud security within a professional environment.

Essential Functions

• Assist in executing security tasks as assigned by the security and compliance team.
• Support updates and monitoring of security systems, software, and applications.
• Participate in incident response activities, including investigation and documentation.
• Learn to act as a support role in monitoring security events and alerts.
• Contribute to security automation projects under supervision.
• Stay updated on security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies through research and learning.
• Assist in patch management processes, including identifying, prioritizing, and deploying security patches.
• Learn to generate basic security reports on metrics, trends, and incidents.

Required education and experience

• Currently pursuing an associate degree, diploma, or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of IT security principles and cloud security concepts.

Preferred education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant coursework or hands-on projects in IT security or cybersecurity.

Work environment

The work is performed in an office environment and may be distracting at times with others conversing. Work environment could be in Elixir’s office, working from home, or a hybrid of both

This position requires hours of computer screen time, hearing, speaking, and sitting or standing at a desk

Expected hours of work

Generally, regular business hours plus some evening hours for global conference calls. Additional hours on weekends or holidays may be required on a seasonal basis to meet business needs.
