Description

NGDS is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Systems Administrator. We are seeking a self-driven professional as part of a 24/7 team to address priority 1 issues and support 24/7/365 operations for all managed services. Seeking a generalist System Administrator that can troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1-2 operational tickets. This team uses a variety of tools and processes to monitor performance and availability of all nodes and network infrastructure for multiple data centers. This role is the first line of support for system outages across the monitored data centers. Team members triage outages to determine symptoms, possible root cause and the proper troubleshooting to either resolve the issue or escalate to Tier 3. The position requires a Windows system administrator. This professional must have proven ability to grasp and apply new information quickly, as well as relay the information to mission owners and DC2HS Division staff in a professional written advisory. 

 Shift Definition: This is a role supporting 3rd shift (0000 - 0800 ET / 2300 - 0700 CT). Assigned days may change with advanced notice. Employee will train during the 1st shift (0800 - 1600 ET / 0700 - 1500 CT) for 2 months of training until all access has been granted, then transition to the third shift.
 


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Acknowledge or receive Priority 1 system outages then troubleshoot.
  • Troubleshooting system admin related hosting outages and operational tickets.
  • Work with application team and other team members to resolve outages.
  • Report outages and issues to data center team members, leadership, and program teams. 
  • Perform software updates and patches, as necessary. 
  • Use of monitoring systems such as SolarWinds and SPLUNK.
  • Manage Active Directory, group policy and Account issues.
  • Interpret technical information to create and send written notifications and SITREPs on behalf of the Division.
  • Review and edit written notifications and SITREPs before they are sent on behalf of the Division.Apply system related cyber updates and STIGs to address vulnerabilities.
  • Apply system related cyber upgrades and STIGs to address vulnerabilities.

Requirements

Desired/Required Skills:

  • DoD 8570 Compliance.
  • Secret Clearance or higher required.
  • Ability to recognize and clearly report relevant information.
  • At least two years’ experience in a related technical or business discipline.
  • Self-starter with ability to self-direct training. 
  • Proven ability to grasp and apply new information quickly. 
  • Strong desire to grow in a face paced environment. 
  • Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction. 
  • Ability to be creative, innovative, and responsible, and able to master good decision-making skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and group policy. 
  • Working knowledge of ports and their function.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring systems such as SolarWinds and SPLUNK.  
  • 2+ years of working knowledge in troubleshooting windows server OS and supporting functions across a domain.  
  • Work as an integral part of a team and thrive in collaborative environments. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication. 
  • Professional sense of customer service working through issues and communicating with higher level mission owners.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize tasks. 
  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to expand the current knowledge base.
  • Ability to understand and write detailed instructions. 
  • Strong technical troubleshooting capabilities. 
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
