More About the Role:
Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.  The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice, video, and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross-domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity) in the NMCI network.

What You'll Get to Do:
The Network Engineer will proactively contribute to the analysis of system requirements, planning, architectural design, system verification testing, and ongoing technical oversight to USMC and NMCI transport systems.

•Serve as a technical expert for vendor solutions.
•Perform research, development and analysis, and validation testing of vendor solutions to ensure effective design and application in the production environment.
•Collaborate with system Domain Architects to define system requirements and recommend hardware selections based on cost and capability analysis.
•Provide technical knowledge transfer to operational teams as part of the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking/transport projects.
•Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective, and efficient operations of systems, architecture, and topology for transport.
•Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI and MCEN networks.
•Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport.
•Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport.
•Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
•Comply with ITSM processes and procedures, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance, and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.
•Support development and maintenance of engineering processes, checklists, and procedures for transport.
•Mentor and review the work of junior team members.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Requires B.S. Degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience (in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university).
•Eight (8) or more years’ experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
•Security+ or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements for IAT-2.
•Ability to obtain CISSP or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8750 IAT-3.
•Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity.
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments designing/architecting networks.
•Experience designing, installing, or administering software defined networking technologies such as Cisco SD-Access.
•Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks.
•Extensive knowledge of the USMC MCEN environment.
•Thorough understanding of the USMC MCCOG team structure.
•Strong understanding of MCCAST and USMC A&A processes.
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
•Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team.
•Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Travel may be required.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Experience working on DoD programs, specifically Navy and Marine Corps programs
•Certifications:
    -CCNA/CCNP.
    -INCOSE CSEP.
    -ITIL.
    -CISSP.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
