Description:
As a Principal Associate in Capital One’s Information Security Office, you will work with top talent in an entrepreneurial environment to solve problems and drive solutions to help the company reduce cyber risk. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the company's cyber risk portfolio. You will be challenged to excel alongside the brightest talent in the industry and be rewarded for your achievements. You will work with a driven team from day one to advise Cyber stakeholders charged with corporate policies, controls, and governance reviews to enable the business while safeguarding Capital One customers, data, and brand. Your presentations, reports, and policy documents will flex your communication, risk review, and data analysis muscles to drive organizational behaviors and change.
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Divisional Information Security Office teams to ensure they have the tools necessary to support their customers.
As part of a team, support and execute independent oversight and effective challenge of the firm’s cybersecurity priorities.
Develop and manage organization’s knowledge management tools.
Improve and document critical business processes.
Conduct Quality Assurance on regulator-required cyber risk reports and on Information Security Office deliverables.
Responsible for development and maintenance of organization’s procedures and controls.
Serve as liaison between the Information Security Office and its audit and assurance partners.
Work with the Information Security Office leadership team on senior leader initiatives.
Serve as a liaison on Department-led efforts requiring Information Security Office input or participation.
Participate in functional communities of practice to ensure consistency across Information Security Office teams.
Be knowledgeable about Capital One’s Information Security offerings, policies, procedures and standards.
Ensure effective governance by identifying risk topics to be discussed by senior management.
Candidates for this role will have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills across levels of leadership.
Passion and expertise in cybersecurity, with an ability to be confident, respectful, and articulate when registering dissenting or unpopular opinions.
Experience working across different stakeholder groups (ex. Business, technology, audit)
Ability to examine cybersecurity and information security risk management data from different sources with the goal of providing key risk insights.
Ability to manage and synthesize information into meaningful messages and context to understand the impact of cybersecurity risks. Relevant for upstream (ex. executive management) and downstream (ex. Line of Business stakeholder) audiences.
Ability to manage multiple risk management projects while maintaining superior results.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 4 years of experience managing, consulting, auditing, or working in the fields of information security, technology, or risk management
At least 4 years of experience developing, evaluating, or implementing cybersecurity or technology strategy or governance structures
At least 4 years of project management experience
At least 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, privacy, or technology industry standards (ISO 27001 or 27002, NIST 800 series, GLBA, GDPR, FFIEC, COBIT, PCI-DSS, ITIL, or FISMA)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years of experience managing policy, standards, procedures, internal controls, risk assessments, exceptions, and internal IT control testing or operational auditing
5+ years of experience in the domain of consulting or advisory
5+ years of experience with cybersecurity or technology policies
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $131,400 - $150,000 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis; $112,400 - $128,300 for Sr. Assoc, Cyber Risk & AnalysisCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
