A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CYBERSECURITY ANALYST

As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you monitor the City's private and public networks for security incidents, implement security software, investigate and document security issues. Your work typically involves writing, editing, and proofreading site content. Your job is essential to the city, you collaborate with the Cyber Security Officer to develop and recommend policies, procedures, and standards that align with the City's objective. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include assisting with assigned projects, provide exceptional technology support to staff and management, and work closely with the entire technology team to achieve departmental goals. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CYBERSECURITY ANALYST

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field
  • Master's Degree in related field.
  • Education substitute: Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
• Requires three (3) years' experience as a Cybersecurity Analyst or in a similar role within the field of information security. Proven track record of conducting cybersecurity assessments, risk analysis, and vulnerability management. Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), antivirus software, and vulnerability scanners. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex security issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Five (5) years' experience in related field.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense.
• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
