About the role
Network Operations & intelligence (NOI) is responsible for running the Transmission Network Control Centre and planning the System Access (outages) that are a key requirement to enable ET to carry out all types of critical work to maintain safety and reliability. NOI also provides key insights and analysis of our network to internal and external stakeholders.
As part of the Cyber team within NOI, you'll support the development and delivery of the ET Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Programme. As part of our dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of exciting projects that are shaping the future security of our nation’s infrastructure. Regardless of the project you are involved in, you will play a vital role in driving positive change and ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of our critical infrastructure. You will be surrounded by industry experts and professionals enabling you to enhance your knowledge, skills and accelerate your career.
- You'll participate in risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential security threats to our business
- You'll play an integral role in accelerating exciting projects by actively participating in stakeholder meetings and taking ownership of projects to ensure successful execution of action plans.
- You'll contribute fresh ideas to shape the strategy, long-term vision, and the development of policies, procedures, and best practices for a robust and resilient OT Cyber Security Framework.
- You'll engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated with the latest advancements and threats in OT Cyber Security.
Our Graduate Programme
As you’ll be joining our 18-month graduate programme, you’ll have a tailored development pathway to support you as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills. You’ll attend in-person and virtual development sessions throughout your programme to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid. We’re committed to the personal development of our colleagues so as well as the support from your line manager as you navigate your new role, you’ll also have access to 121 coaching and a mentor, from a previous cohort to help you transition from campus to corporate life.
All graduates complete the core development programme to develop key skills such as how to make an impact, giving feedback and presentation skills. Aligned to our IT & Digital pathway you’ll develop your IT technical skills including AGILE and Scrum. You’ll also gain important insights in engineering and electricity to help broaden your understanding of our business and industry.
We believe in the importance of getting as much on-the-job experience as possible and to do this, you will complete three 6-month placements, across the UK, designed to deepen your understanding of your speciality but to also broaden your knowledge of our business. At the end of your 18-month programme you’ll return to your initial placement area to kickstart your superpowered career.
What you'll need to apply
You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Cyber-Security related degree. It doesn’t matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.
You’ll need flexibility to travel within role and throughout your rotations as required.
This role is subject to National Security Vetting (NSV) in addition to our standard background checks being undertaken. National Security Vetting requires that you hold or are eligible to hold a valid British Passport and that you meet the minimum Residency Criteria, meaning you will have lived continuously in the United Kingdom for the required period of five years. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be able to demonstrate that they will have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme.
Location
This role is based in National Grid House in Warwick and offers flexible hybrid working, where possible.
