Presales Solution Architect - Applications

What success looks like in this role:

• Lead client or internal opportunities that includes both legacy platforms and modern-day applications and platforms.

• Collaborate with and advise members of Go to Market/sales teams on solution features, architectural approach and issues, design options, implementation considerations, cost elements and effort estimates.

• Analyse and evaluate client requirements against Unisys portfolio offerings and architecting those requirements into a competitive solution.

• Provides technical input into bid proposals, projects and technical documents within the sales process, and identifies additional sales opportunities with existing customer

• Demonstrates the organization's products at customer sites

• Collaborates with Go to Market / sales teams to develop and recommend products and services to meet customers' requirements

• Maintains up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the organization's and competitors' products and/or services

• Analyse detailed client business process, software, application, ITO and/or infrastructure requirements (RFPs, RFIs).

• Architect a solution using appropriate portfolio offerings with design elements that allow integration into client environment

• Lead or support architectural and/or solution reviews.

  • Lead or support strategic planning activities and business case development for client engagements.

  • Lead or support the development of cost elements and resource estimates as well as solution models.

  • Refine and optimize architectural approach and design patterns.

  • Adhere to appropriate Unisys processes, architectural artifact requirements and the Unisys End-to-End Service Model.

  • Responsible for architectural decisions about how solutions should be designed and implemented

  • Knowledgeable on business processes, software and applications, and/or IT infrastructure and infrastructure management.

  • Coordinate architect resources to develop the solution architecture of business problems in a distributed ecosystem

  • Work closely with clients to gather and document technical requirements, ensuring alignment with our products and services.

  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including proposals, RFP responses, and solution architecture diagrams.

  • Responsible for presenting solutions to internal and client stakeholders.

  • Responsible for leading client facing technical interactions, usually in his/her knowledge area.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development and engineering, to address client needs and enhance product features.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT related major preferred or equivalent experience and 15+ years of relevant work experience in the IT service industry, pre-sales architect experience preferred

  • Excellent communication, analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong knowledge of prevailing industry standards such as TOGAF, ITIL, ISO Standards, Zachman, etc.

  • Broad understanding of all Unisys portfolio (or equivalent external) solutions

• Expertise in creating solutions that solves business problems including both legacy and modern platforms in a distributed ecosystem

• Experience in working across several applications/platforms spanning across the globe

  • Proven record of collaborating with a possibly leading global solution project teams on increasingly complex regional or global support engagements

  • Experience in proposal processes including proposal solution development / design review, design trade-off decisions, winning theme development, and presentation to the client

  • Demonstrated ability to interact and articulate the benefits of a solution in a manner appropriate for senior IT executives

  • Experience developing cost/benefit analysis and determining the risk associated with a given solution

  • Expertise in three or more of the solution areas listed below:

  • Public Cloud – Azure / AWS / Google

• Microservices Design Pattern

• Cyber-security – Triaging security scan vulnerabilities and providing resolutions adhering industry standards such as OWASP and NVD

• Advanced experience with enterprise-level software delivery and release management practices

• Experience in modernizing applications from Mainframe / Legacy platforms to PaaS, Containers, Kubernetes, Serverless, or other modern cloud technologies. 

• Advanced experience in Estimation, Costing, Financial Planning and Tracking, Resource Planning and Risk Management

• Knowledge of latest security best practices (OWASP, CBE, NIST, etc)

• Expertise in a wide spectrum of IT technologies such as Microsoft stack/ Java based applications, DevOps concepts, Database concepts, Cloud Technologies, Containerization

• Server Operating Systems, Database / Information Management, Networks, Security, End User Technology (Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile), Digital workplace services, Virtualization (Server, Desktop, Application), Infrastructure and Device Monitoring

  • Mobility Solutions, Application Platforms and Application Integration, IT Processes, IT Governance, measurement and controls, Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

  • Computing Infrastructure Services (IaaS, PaaS, ITSM, SaaS, etc.), Application Development (multi-tier, Web and / or Mobile), Software & Applications, Application and Data Security, Application Integration, Enterprise Content Management, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Application Performance and Tuning

  • Business Intelligence, Analytics, Reporting, Data Warehousing, Enterprise Architecture / Business Architecture, Business Strategy Planning and Execution, Business Process Reengineering, Management and/or Simulation

• A customer-focused mindset, with the ability to understand client needs and tailor solutions accordingly.

• Proficiency in delivering engaging technical presentations and demonstrations.

• Ability to work collaboratively with sales, product development, and engineering teams to achieve common goals.

• Having experience in modernizing solutions: for example, converting monolith applications to cloud based microservices architecture.

Additional Skills:

Assumes accountability for the infrastructure solution technology components and the successful implementation of the full solution. May include hands-on modelling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, prototyping and/or other efforts required to keep the project on a successful track.
