We ensure future viability of global international trade & prosperity of communities around the worldAs an Enterprise Linux, Storage, and Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the Linux-based infrastructure, storage solutions, and cloud services. This role combines expertise in Linux systems, storage technologies, and cloud computing to ensure the organization's IT infrastructure operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Linux Systems Administration:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers and systems (such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure security and stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux operating systems and applications.
- Implement security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption.
Storage Solutions:
- Design and manage storage solutions, including both traditional on-premises storage arrays and modern software-defined storage.
- Implement data storage and management best practices, including backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Optimize storage performance, capacity, and scalability to meet the organization's needs.
- Monitor storage systems for performance, availability, and health.
Cloud Services:
- Plan, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure and services (such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Deploy and manage virtual machines, containers, and serverless computing resources in the cloud.
- Implement cloud security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance.
- Monitor cloud resources, analyze usage patterns, and optimize costs.
Automation and Orchestration:
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools (using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to streamline deployment and management tasks.
- Orchestrate complex workflows and processes across the Linux, storage, and cloud environments.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks; apply optimizations to improve efficiency.
- Analyze and fine-tune resource allocation, load balancing, and network configurations.
- Implement caching, load balancing, and content delivery solutions to enhance application performance.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and security professionals, to ensure a cohesive IT environment.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and knowledge sharing.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement security best practices to protect data, systems, and applications.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies.
- Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Respond to and resolve incidents, outages, and technical issues promptly.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify and address underlying problems.
- Provide on-call support as required to maintain system availability.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- Requires a strong technical IT background (5+ years’ experience) with broad experience across a wide range of technologies including Infrastructure, Cloud, Data Centre, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Blade Server technology, SAN Storage, Linux Servers and supporting technologies.
- Highly organized and able to set priorities.
- Soft skills include relationship and team building, mentoring, and ability to communicate effectively to other teams, peers and other organizations.
- Requires strong problem-solving skills, good judgement and risk management.
- Required to work with customers on specific targeted objectives.
- Have a minimum of 5 years strong experience in Data Center, Cloud and Systems Management.
- Demonstrate broad experience working with various Systems, Cloud, Data Centre and Security technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of RedHat and Oracle Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in shell scripting and command-line tools is essential.
- Experience with various storage technologies, such as SAN, NAS, software-defined storage, RAID configurations, and backup and recovery solutions.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (Azure) including cloud architecture, deployment, management, and security practices.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies (OLVM and VMware) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) for efficient resource utilization and application deployment.
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible) and orchestration frameworks to streamline deployment and management tasks.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including access controls, encryption, authentication, and vulnerability management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Clear communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and documenting system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
