Job Description: We're seeking a Network Engineer who will be flexible and support integration, testing, training, and sustainment of solutions that include diverse technologies running on commercially available hardware devices. The Network Engineer will be primarily responsible for procuring, building, deploying and maintaining both computing and communications solutions - including direct engagement with technical and non-technical end users to provide training and root cause troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, test, integrate, deploy and/or sustain solutions for a diverse portfolio of computing (PC/Mac), mobile (smartphones/tablets), network (routers, switches, firewalls), infrastructure (servers, storage devices) and small form factor platforms (Raspberry Pi, Arduino).
  • Interface with end users and provide training as required.
  • Maintain inventory and adhere to configuration management best practices.
  • Performing system administration duties to maintain mission critical capabilities (production/training/testbed systems) and adherence to configuration management processes.
  • Effectively communicate with project personnel and end users (both technical and non-technical).

Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant professional network support experience.
  • 5+ years direct experience performing network integration, test, operations, training and/or maintenance activities in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of modern computing hardware and software products.
  • Ability to install and configure components including OS, RAID, NAS, network interfaces, full disk encryption.
  • Experience with workstation and server configuration, Active Directory, Group Policy, antivirus, anti-malware.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Visio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical topics to non-engineers.
  • An ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a dynamic team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering end user training.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience supporting and managing non-traditional network equipment such as Linux based OpenVPN running on Raspberry Pi devices.
  • Managing and patching workstations and servers within distributed virtual environments that include both Microsoft Windows and Linux/Unix operating system platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration, operation and maintenance of Exchange, Asterisk and/or other messaging and voice solutions.
  • Knowledgeable in deploying and managing virtualization tools such as VMware Sphere.
  • Ability to identifyand resolve root cause problems using Wireshark and other network troubleshooting tools.
