The Position
We are excited to announce we are looking to expand our Biology team. We have an amazing opportunity for a competent Forensic Reporting Scientist to join out highly skilled and experienced team as we look to grow our capabilities and capacity. Given our standing within the marketplace, serving both prosecution and defence, we offer a unique opportunity which will include working closely alongside our other in-house forensic disciplines, including fingerprints and firearms.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the Biology team in all aspects of Biology casework and other related work
- Producing simple and complex strategies relating to Biology examinations, including participating in the production of multi-discipline strategies.
- Examination of casework items and interpretation and reporting of resultant DNA and body fluids findings for the prosecution and defence.
- Attendance at other sites to undertake examinations for the defence.
- Peer review of casework.
- Attendance at court.
- Delivery of internal and external training.
- Presentations (in person/online) to customers / legal professionals
- Undertaking all work and processes in line with the quality management system and adherence to UKAS and FSR guidelines, maintenance of equipment and supplies, validation where appropriate and document ownership.
Essential Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Laboratory casework examination experience
- DNA and body fluid reporting experience of live casework
Desirable Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Blood pattern analysis reporting
- Sexual assault case reporting
- Complex statistical analysis reporting
