About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

About you:

You are a self-driven and detail-oriented individual who has an interest in privacy compliance. You have experience working with various stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the privacy framework across the enterprise. You like solving problems and facilitating the business by ensuring proactive advice and information is provided which in turn facilitates the implementation of privacy by design. You are eager to join a growing team responsible for regulatory compliance and corporate governance across an entrepreneurial organization in the fintech and banking space. 

About the qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in privacy compliance, ideally within financial services.
  • Post-secondary degree/designation from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of privacy compliance principles and practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of information privacy issues and information system.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, problem-solving, and advisory skills.
  • Ability to recognize and focus on critical issues and balance and respond to competing needs throughout the organization.
  • International Association of Privacy Professionals Certified Information Privacy Professional and/or Canadian Association of Professional Access and Privacy. Administrators Access and Privacy Professional Certification is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset.

About the day-to-day:

  • Support the continued development and maintenance of the privacy risk management program, including privacy related policies, procedures, awareness and training.
  • Respond to privacy inquiries, and conducting privacy impact assessments.
  • Lead privacy incident responses, including privacy reporting.
  • Monitor federal and provincial laws, policies, and privacy best practices to ensure continued compliance.
  • Support interaction with regulatory authorities on privacy-related issues and manage data breach incidents and reporting.
  • Promote a culture of privacy and data protection throughout the organization.
  • Oversee data handling practices, including data collection, processing, storage, and disposal.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to privacy and data protection.
  • Participate in the development of new business initiatives to ensure privacy considerations are incorporated from the outset.
  • Support the preparation of reports on the status of the privacy program to executive leadership and the board of directors.

Compensation:

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $65,000 and $75,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possess.
