The Information Security group, part of the Information Technology Services (ITS), provides expertise and services to protect the University of Toronto’s data and digital infrastructure assets.

Protection is achieved by identifying and reducing risk. Information Security staff engage with academic, research and administrative groups in a number of areas, including assessing the security of new and existing services, working with architects to design and maintain security in online resources and offering detection and response capabilities to address cyber attacks.

Your opportunity:

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio, operating as Information Technology Services (ITS), is home to over 200 IT professionals who provide University-wide IT services and systems to enable University of Toronto (U of T) to maintain its status as Canada’s leading institution of learning, discovery and knowledge creation. From direct support to enterprise-grade academic and administrative applications (student, financial, HR and research) to online learning, information security, collaboration tools and network infrastructure, our work enables U of T’s steadfast commitment to being an internationally significant research university with excellent undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.

ITS provides leadership and undertakes strategic and tactical initiatives to secure the greatest value from the University’s investment in IT. By strategically focusing on our people and working in collaboration with academic administrators, process owners and distributed IT service providers, ITS identifies technology opportunities and inefficiencies, and implements services and technology solutions to reduce complexity and improve aggregate IT experience of students, faculty and staff.

Your responsibilities willinclude:

 

  • Design and implement secure AD solutions that meet business requirements and industry standards
  • Implement and maintain security policies, including user authentication, authorization, and auditing
  • Manage and maintain the AD infrastructure, including domain controller, DNS, Group Policy, and authentication protocols
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the Active Directory environment for scalability and efficiency
  • Plan and execute migration strategies for upgrading or consolidating Active Directory environments
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to identify and resolve security issues
  • Scheduling and assigning work to a small group in a limited area

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Relevant certifications, such as MCSE, MCSA, ADFS, CISSP, CIAM or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Minimum five years experience in administering and managing active directory in an enterprise environment
  • Minimum two years of experience in administering and managing Microsoft EntraID environment
  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting IAM solutions, such as LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and Kerberos
  • Experience with scripting and automation for Active Directory tasks
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

USW Pay Band 16 -- $101,539. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $129,851. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
