  • Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31 December 2028, flexible work arrangements are subject to negotiation.

  • Base salary will be in the range $162,046 - $178,367 per annum (full time equivalent + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level D)

  • Based at our St Lucia Campus

About This Opportunity 

We are looking for someone who has expertise in cyber security and software engineering, with a demonstrated track record in designing and delivering high-quality curricula, pedagogy, and assessment that enables student learning.  Someone who can shape the culture of teaching excellence in EECS and across UQ, and can lead innovative and impactful teaching-related projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counseling, and adhere to university teaching rules.

  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning/Research: Maintain an active record of producing quality research or scholarship of teaching outputs consistent with discipline norms, collaborate on teaching and research project and utilise best practice teaching and assessment methodologies.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You 
  • Completion of a PhD in the discipline area.

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in Cyber Security and Software Engineering with a strong track record of research or industry relevant work specifically in the area of Cyber Security.

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching Cyber Security and Software Engineering courses.

  • Strong evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • Demonstrated ability to align student learning with the most up to date industry needs.

  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to the discipline of cyber security.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
