We are looking for a skilled Network Security Engineer with extensive experience in Checkpoint firewall management to join our team. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining network security infrastructure, particularly Checkpoint firewalls, to ensure robust protection against security threats. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network security principles and hands-on experience with Checkpoint technologies, along with the ability to handle complex security challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Firewall Management & Configuration:
  • Design, implement, and manage Checkpoint firewalls, ensuring optimal configuration to protect network resources.
  • Regularly update firewall rules, policies, and configurations to adapt to new security threats and organizational needs.
  • Monitor firewall activity, identify potential risks, and implement measures to prevent unauthorized access or data breaches.
  • Network Security Design & Implementation:
  • Design secure network architectures and implement security measures across the entire network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain security tools such as VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network access controls.
  • Ensure that security solutions are integrated seamlessly into existing network operations without compromising performance.
  • Security Monitoring & Incident Response:
  • Continuously monitor network traffic for security events and alerts, using security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Lead incident response efforts when security threats are detected, including investigating and resolving network breaches.
  • Develop and execute containment and recovery plans for security incidents.
  • Vulnerability Management & Penetration Testing:
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits on network systems and firewalls to identify potential weaknesses.
  • Work with other IT and security teams to prioritize and address identified vulnerabilities and ensure timely remediation.
  • Stay informed about the latest security vulnerabilities and threats, and apply patches or updates to mitigate risks.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network security architecture, firewall configurations, and incident response protocols.
  • Generate regular reports on firewall performance, security incidents, and compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Communicate findings and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security Policy Development & Enforcement:
  • Develop, enforce, and update security policies and procedures, focusing on firewall management and network access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal security standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Collaborate with other IT departments to implement security policies across all network layers.
  • Collaboration & Training:
  • Collaborate with IT teams, network engineers, and external vendors to ensure secure network operations.
  • Train staff on network security best practices and firewall usage, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a secure environment.
  • Participate in security reviews, audits, and discussions to continuously improve the organization’s security posture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in network security engineering with a focus on Checkpoint firewall management.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Checkpoint firewall solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL), encryption methods, and security frameworks.
  • Experience with other network security tools such as IDS/IPS, VPNs, and multi-factor authentication solutions.
  • Knowledge of SIEM tools for security monitoring and incident response.
