The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with system administrator experience to join our research group. The Mayo Clinic SPPDG is an R&D team dedicated to the development of next generation electronics and optics technologies for high-speed signal processing applications, high clock rate digital signal processors and wide bandwidth, high center frequency analog systems. Information security responsibilities include developing and maintaining policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and system security plans, and managing and performing security compliance monitoring based on risk management framework (RMF) concepts and applicable NIST standards. Responsibilities also include keeping apprised of government and institutional security requirements, submission of required forms and documentation, and communication of IT security related issues with the appropriate authorities. The candidate is also expected to be capable of facilitating and performing primary computer support for the SPPDG Windows and Linux platforms. 

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related major and a minimum of eight (8) years experience in IT system administration required, OR Associates degree and ten (10) years experience in IT system administration, OR in lieu of a degree, Twelve (12) years experience in IT system administration required. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI clearance and adhere to security requirements as described in the NISPOM. Certified as CISSP or will obtain certification within 1 year of hire.

Successful candidates will have the following experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on Windows or Linux System Administration– group policy, basic network concepts
  • A minimum of 2 years of senior IT experience in information security and risk management, including acting as an ISSO or similar role
  • Expertise in implementing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and handling security controls, assessments, and authorizations in compliance with NIST guidelines 
  • Generation of RMF governing system security rules or plans with multiple agencies and multiple frameworks (DOD STIGs, NIST, RMF, eMASS, SCAP, Nessus, POA&M OR NISPOM)
  • Proficiency in secure data handling and transfer methods within restricted environments
