The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Computer Science at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the areas of computer science and cybersecurity. The expected start date is August 2024.

The University of New Haven has been recognized by the NSA as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO), one of only 20 universities/colleges in the U.S. to receive this prestigious designation. The university has made cybersecurity a top priority in its centennial fund raising challenge with the slogan of "Securing Our Future". We are looking for an energized faculty member who wants to continue building our national and international reputation in cybersecurity. The Computer Science program in the department is accredited by ABET.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems, or closely related fields. The degree must be completed before the start date of employment.
• A commitment to teaching excellence, active and experiential learning and student engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and interdisciplinary research.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork. 
• Authorization to work in the U.S.

Expectations

• Effectively teach graduate and undergraduate courses in broad areas of computer science and cybersecurity.
• Develop a research program that complements existing research activities in the department and college and engages graduate and undergraduate students. Publish scholarly work and write grant proposals to establish funded research. Establish research collaborations with other faculty.
• Provide service at the program, departmental, college and university levels on various working groups and committees. Other duties may include working with corporations to secure industry-sponsored projects and outreach/recruiting.

The TCoE offers eight nationally accredited engineering and applied science programs (chemical, civil, electrical and computer, and mechanical engineering, computer science, and chemistry). New Haven has a lot to offer, and surrounding cities along the shoreline are attractive for families with Connecticut being home to some of the best schools in the nation. The East Coast is easily accessible by train, and the university is close to New York and Boston.
