Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), Office of Cybersecurity and Risk Management is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Information Security Analyst. This position will assist to maintain the agency’s IT security program in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security policies and standards and to help support the school divisions in security planning and student privacy.

Minimum Qualifications

· Considerable knowledge and experience with State of VA Information Security Policy and process.
· Demonstrated ability to understand security training.
· Knowledge of access management.
· Understanding of general security principals for end user management.
· Knowledge of incident response.
· Comprehensive knowledge of security framework.
· Knowledge of policy and process implementation.
· Considerable experience working in information technology, security or a related field.
· Previous experience as an information security analyst or related position.
· Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications.
· Knowledge of aspects of information security in the public education setting.

Additional Considerations

Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in information security.
Considerable knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security policies and standards preferred.
Information Security Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
