West Fraser are looking for Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing Security Team. 

The Senior Cyber Security Specialist will play a vital role in safeguarding our organization’s digital assets by designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive security solutions. You will be responsible for optimizing the use of our security tools to maximize their effectiveness and efficiency. As a trusted advisor to our IT leadership, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate security into all aspect of our IT lifecycle, optimize security alerts and the use of our security technologies, identify opportunities to automate security processes and provide support to our Incident Response team.

This role is instrumental in protecting our organization from the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape and is under the supervision of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

Here's what you will do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls to protect our organization’s data and systems.
  • Configure and manage SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) solutions to collect, analyze, and correlate security events.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks to automate security incident response tasks.
  • Conduct regular reviews of SIEM and playbook configuration to ensure effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for integration and automation of security tools.
  • Manage and optimize the use of security tools, including Zscaler and Sentinel technologies.
  • Lead security initiatives, including designing and implementing security solutions to mitigate risks and respond to emerging threats.
  • Investigate security events of interest and provide mentorship and support to Cyber Security Analysts.
  • Provide technical support to IT staff and end users on security matters.
  • Help with creating security metrics to track the effectiveness of our security posture.
  • Stay updated with the latest security trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate, provide guidance and mentorship to security team members.

What you will need to have:

  • Experience with SIEM solutions such as Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Experience with zero-trust platforms such as Zscaler.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining playbooks.
  • Experience with optimizing the use of security tools.
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows OS.
  • Experience with scripting languages or any other development language.
  • Able to identify opportunities for integration and automation of security tools.
  • Ability to evaluate new security tools and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with security in a cloud computing environment is a plus.
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Equivalent direct work experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, focusing on security engineering. 
  • Advanced understanding of security principles and practices.

Work Conditions:

    • Occasional after-hours coverage to respond to urgent or severe security incidents
    • Occasional travel between Canada, the United States and Europe
    • Posting locations : Vancouver BC or Quesnel BC

    Compensation Package:

    • The salary for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
    • The salary range for this position is usually between $95,000 - $110,000 depending on skills and experience.
    • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
