NORAD Operations Group
Selected by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division for Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) of critical mission systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC), we support the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).
Since 2020, through the (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II), we have provided:
- Operations, maintenance, and Sustainment of current and legacy systems for the surveillance and cataloging of manmade objects in space.
- Mitigation of orbital conflicts.
- Threat warnings and control from airborne, land-based, and space-based systems for threat activities.
- Operations and maintenance of classified communications.
- Software development and integration.
NISSC II supports the classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability and legacy space C2 systems located at:
- Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS), Colorado
- Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), Colorado
- Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska
- Vandenberg Space Force Base, California
- Numerous sensor and forward operator sites around the world
Description of Duties:
The Communications Security Responsible Officer (CRO) supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will:
- Troubleshoot COMSEC equipment and processes.
- Order/track COMSEC materials.
- COMSEC Key Management planning and transport of materials.
- Be the COMSEC gatekeeper ensuring Two-Person Integrity is adhered to.
- Responsible for keying network/telecommunications equipment.
- Analyze, investigate, and participate in the resolution of classified security issues. Coordinate actions(s) to be taken to ensure compliance with the classified security program.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain physical security, access controls, and procedures.
- Maintain storage of up to TOP SECRET COMSEC material.
- Maintain a record of combinations and daily security checks.
- Manage inventory and accounting requirements.
- Conduct routine COMSEC destruction and creation of destruction reports.
- Maintain records of COMSEC alternate personnel.
- Conduct semi-annual inventory and report results to COR.
- Ensure the account is in strict compliance with physical security, COMSEC record keeping, and proper handling and storage of classified keying material.
- Performs additional duties related to Information Assurance as assigned/required.
- Assist in troubleshooting, isolating, repairing, and correcting network systems and circuit errors, as needed.
- Assist with long-haul transport circuit/network/system drawings/records, as needed.
***Shift work could be required to support 24×7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule, and can remain on-site for extended periods during emergencies and drills.
***This position reports to Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station.

Here's What You'll Need:
Basic Requirements:
- Clearance Requirement – TS w/SCI eligibility.
- Certification Requirement - DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
- 2 years of directly related experience.
- Experience with COMSEC policies and procedures.
- User experience with the maintenance and operation of common COMSEC devices.
- Must have experience with DoD processes and procedures or an equivalent regulatory environment and/or military training.
- COMSEC, KMI, and KOAM Experience.
- Must be able to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
Desired Requirements:
- Knowledge of the following technologies: OSI, TCP/IP, and various layer 2 protocols.
- Knowledge of data center/long-haul transport mechanisms, serial data interfaces, cat-X ethernet, and fiber optic cabling.
- Experience preparing for and participating in audits and assessments.
- General knowledge and experience in Personnel Security, Physical Security, and Industrial Security.
- Experience prioritizing and managing workloads.
- Have clear written and verbal communication skills.
This position is expected to pay $60,000 - $75,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Essential Functions:
Communication
- Will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.·
Work Environment
- Work will be performed inside a large facility.

Physical Requirements
- Position will require extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
- Position will require climbing, working at heights, and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.
- Position will require sitting, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching for long periods.
- Position will require work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
- Position will require lifting and/or transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, traveling moderate to long distances may be required.
Equipment and Machines
- General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
- Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.
Attendance
- Regular attendance following the established work schedule is mandatory.
- It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.
- You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.
- You may be asked to continue performance in support of a war, contingency, or exercise.
Travel
- Commuting between locations may be required daily (~30-minute drive).
- May require operating motor vehicles for commuting between locations.
Other Essential Functions
- Candidate must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace.
- Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
- Grooming and dress are usually business casual but dependent on the client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
