About the Role
As a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Specialist at HARMAN, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the resilience and availability of our critical business operations and systems in the face of unforeseen disruptions or disasters. You will work closely with various business units and IT teams to define and implement standards, as well as regularly execute and oversee disaster recovery exercises. Your role is essential in maintaining our organization's ability to swiftly respond to and recover from any potential threats or incidents that may impact our business operations.
Your Team
This position will report to the Director, Digital Security Engineering. The role will not initially be responsible for any full-time employees.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with business owners and IT teams to define and document business continuity and disaster recovery standards and procedures.
- Continuously assess and update disaster recovery plans to reflect changes in the organization's infrastructure, applications, and business processes.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and impact analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and critical business functions.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute disaster recovery exercises, simulating various disaster scenarios and working closely with application owners to validate recovery processes.
- Monitor and maintain the disaster recovery infrastructure, ensuring it is always ready to respond in case of a disaster.
- Serve as the point of contact during disaster recovery incidents, coordinating efforts to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Provide training and awareness programs to relevant stakeholders to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities during a disaster recovery event.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of disaster recovery plans and report on them to management.
- Collaborate with external vendors or service providers for disaster recovery solutions, as needed.
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and execution, preferably within an IT or related environment.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and business impact analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining disaster recovery documentation and plans.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to think critically and problem-solve in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
What is Nice to Have
- Relevant certification (e.g., CBCP, CISSP, or CISM) are a plus.
