Job Description

HBK is seeking an Information Security Intern to join its Information Technology team. This individual will work closely with other talented and driven technology professionals supporting HBK’s highly available and complex enterprise infrastructure. The HBK infrastructure is a hybrid environment made up of co-located datacenters and cloud services. We leverage approaches such as infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and Agile methodologies. This position will work closely with the security operations team to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of information security, while contributing to real-world projects that have a significant impact on our organization.

 Job Requirements

  • Rising Senior (December 2025 – May 2026) or rising Junior (December 2026 – May 2027) pursuing a relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field with a minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Familiarity with basic security concepts and tools
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking including DNS and DHCP
  • Fundamental knowledge of operating systems and basic troubleshooting
  • Detail and process-oriented team player with the ability to work well within a nimble team
  • Technical proficiency, insatiable level of technical curiosity, and desire to grow
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as strong customer service experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing security systems and tools to identify potential vulnerabilities or threats
  • Collaborate with the InfoSec team to assess and mitigate security risks across the organization
  • Participate in the development and execution of security policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives for employees
  • Assist in conducting regular security assessments and audits
  • Research and stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and best practices
  • Support incident response efforts, including analysis and documentation
  • Partner with engineering teams on new security solutions and services
  • Utilize configuration management to maintain system integrity consistent with their defined state
  • Partner with the patch management team to ensure systems are properly patched and secured
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and upcoming trends

Beneficial Skills and Interests

  • Security-related Certifications (such as Security+, GSEC, GCIH, GCIA, CISSP, NCSF)
  • Unix/Linux experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and automation technologies
  • Understanding of programming concepts and different programming methodologies
  • Knowledge of coding best practices in usage with code control via version control, repositories
