POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer who will build/manage the following assets:

CI/CD pipelines, Configuration management, Infrastructure management, Infrastructure as a Code, Agile

planning, Containerization, Automating processes & Monitoring. This exceptional individual will coordinate

& collaborate with cross functional teams to assure success of the department. The role will participate in

the development of novel software & digital assets, via SDLC & Agile/Scrum with the entire department of

Product, Engineering, Architecture, Compliance, Quality & Configuration.

Requirements

High Level Concepts/Technologies with Documentation:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the following concepts & technologies:

  •  Developing CI/CD pipelines.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring stacks.
  • Infrastructure as code (iac).

  •       ***RPA experience e.g. UI/Path, creating robots.

  • Adding or changing workflow processes.

  • Cloud Platform Integration.
  •  Ensuring systems and processes are documented.
  • Experience with reviewing and validating code.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Technical support; Root cause analysis; Provide on-call support as needed.


A mastery of documentation skills is a primary requirement for every role in the Application Development Department:

  • Making documentation easy to find and read.
  • Collaboration Docs in order to understand the project's architecture, components, and processes.
  • Onboarding Docs, to onboard quickly.
  • Risk mitigation, to verify configurations and settings, reducing the risk of errors and security vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshooting docs.
  • Standardization of best practices.
  • Metric capture to benchmark metrics for code quality.
  • Shared responsibility concerning documentation-as-Code (DaC).


Responsibilities, Expectations & Qualifications:

  • The DevOps focus is centralized on bridging the developmental endeavors & operational endeavors, including:
  •  Application development management: Setting up environments for application development, monitoring performance, and ensuring security.
  •  Automation: Automating recurring tasks and streamlining software development and deployment processes.
  •  Integration: Integrating automated processes and testing configurations
  •  Agile development: Implementing agile development practices like code reviews and source control.


Required AWS Exposure & Competency:

  • Organizing around applications & environments - AWS Organizations Service.
  • User Access Management - AWS IAM Identity Center.

    

Security:

  •  Service Control Policies.
  • AWS Security Hub.
  • AWS Guard Duty.
  • AWS Cloud Trail.
  • Note: Rights & privileges (Access); Defense (intruders, attacks), Privacy, Data Security in-transit & at rest, Data Integrity; Governance Policies (security policies are followed).
  • Data Encryption:
  • Encryption at rest: Encryption Keys (KMS), anonymization.
  • TLS (Transport Layer Security).
  • Access Management: AWS Service: IAM Identity Center (tool proper).


Networking: VPC, Security Groups, Internet Gateway, Web Access Firewall, Session Manager.

  •   Compute: Server-less (lambdas) & Containerization (Docker) with (Elastic Container Service).
  •   Event driven architecture: SQS, Event Bridge, SNS, SES, & Step Functions.
  •   Data : RDS, S3, Redshift, Redis.
  •   Route53 & Cognito.
  •   Logging & Monitoring: Cloudwatch & Alarms/Logs/Notifications/Monitoring.
  •   Compliance: AWS organizations, IAM identity center.
  •   Billing & Invoicing: Cloudwatch
  •   Documentation: (outside of the scope of AWS)

Responsibilities & Expected Skills:

  Architecture:

    ¦ Elastic Container Service, Containerization & Docker.

    ¦ Work on ways to automate & improve development & release processes.

    ¦ Building & implementing new development tools & infrastructure.

    ¦ Build tools to reduce occurrence of errors & improve customer experience.

    ¦ Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems.

Maintenance:

    ¦ Design procedures for system troubleshooting & maintenance

    ¦ Managing production & non-production workloads with docker containers.

    ¦ Build & maintain cloud-first monitoring, logging, & alerting tools & processes that support 24/7 enterprise platforms.

    ¦ Monitor & resolve infrastructure performance & security issues. Perform root cause analysis.

    ¦ Conduct testing throughout each of our environments.

    ¦ Manage on-site routers & firewalls.

    ¦ Provide technical support.

    ¦ Understanding the needs of stakeholders & conveying them to developers.

Agile/Scrum:

    ¦ Working with software developers & software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes & works as intended.

    ¦ Planning projects & being involved in project management decisions.

    ¦ Design & document procedures for systems troubleshooting & maintenance.

    ¦ Working on ways to automate & improve development & release processes.

    ¦ Identifying technical problems & developing software updates & fixes.

Development:

    ¦ Deploy updates & fixes, & provide advanced technical support.

    ¦ Establish new pipelines in order to manage an AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools, maintaining compliance with CIS & NIST frameworks.

    ¦ Testing & examining code written by others & analyzing results.

    ¦ Ensuring that systems are safe & secure against cybersecurity threats.

    ¦ Exceptional organizational skills.

    ¦ Sense of urgency.

    ¦ Perform root cause analysis of production errors & resolve technical issues.

Tools:

    ¦ AWS (see ‘Required Exposure & Competency’ above)

    ¦ Good knowledge of Bash, PowerShell, Python.

    ¦ Proficiency with Git & GitHub workflows.

    ¦ Working knowledge of databases & SQL/MongoDB.


Required Qualifications:

  • Formal/OTJ training or certification on software engineering concepts & applied experience
  • ***3+ years of deep knowledge & experience deploying & maintaining distributed systems in AWS.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS & AWS CLI including EC2, VPC, EBS, NLB/ALB, SNS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, Elastic Container Service (ECS).
  • Knowledge of the AWS Well Architected Framework.
  • Proficient with git & git workflows.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, & related orchestration technologies.
  • Strong knowledge & understanding of CI/CD pipeline automation & tools.
  • 4+ years of professional software development exposure to web applications, including team collaboration & code repository (GitHub).
  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, unit & integration testing, & operations experience.
  • 3+ years hands on, production-level experience as a DevOps Engineer.
  • 2+ years of active engagement in an Agile/Scrum team.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.



Experience Level:

4+ years of relevant experience for the role within the last five years.

Compensation package:

  • Base Pay: $100,000.00-110,000.00 per year
  • Incentive/Bonus: Eligible for annual company bonus program
