Senior Security Engineer, Infrastructure

The InfoSec team at Chainalysis is focused on maintaining the security and integrity of our solutions. We collaborate with various teams to integrate secure practices into our development processes, build and manage security tools and dashboards, and oversee the security operations and deployment across our products and infrastructure.

This role is positioned within the Security team for the Engineering team, integrating Security personnel directly into non-security departments. The individual will implement and adjust security measures in alignment with overall Security directives within the Platform Engineering team. A broad and deep technical proficiency is essential, encompassing areas like cloud infrastructure, software engineering, network security, and knowledge of core technologies like Terraform, AWS, and Kubernetes.

In this role, you’ll: 

• Collaborate with our development, operations, and security teams, integrating secure practices into our CI/CD pipelines.

• Enhance the security posture of the organization through the development and deployment of security improvements across various platforms including Linux, Kubernetes, and AWS.

• Collaborate closely with the Platform team to prioritize daily tasks and contribute to Engineering  initiatives, utilizing technologies like Python and Terraform to implement security controls and configurations to AWS, Kubernetes and other systems.

• Manage internal tooling and operations with a focus on maintaining cloud networks, firewalls, and security best practices, while also having the autonomy to make administrative decisions within the scope of the Security department's alignment.

We’re looking for candidates who have: 

• Strong experience in designing, deploying, and managing secure cloud infrastructures using Kubernetes and Terraform

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Proficient in Linux system administration, with skills in patching, package upgrades, and securing Linux environments to maintain system integrity.

• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and a deep understanding of cloud architectures, deployments, and security practices.

• Skilled in software engineering with a strong grasp of 1 or more languages and object-oriented design principles. Preferred experience with Python or Java.

• Expertise in using Terraform for infrastructure as code, adept at automating cloud service deployments and maintaining scalable, secure infrastructures.

• Strong experience with Kubernetes, including deploying and managing containerized applications, and orchestrating their scaling and management.

• Thorough knowledge of cloud network security protocols, including experience in setting up and managing cloud firewalls, CloudFlare configurations, and securing cloud networks.

• Independent decision-making skills with the authority to implement security changes, requiring alignment with overarching security policies while maintaining autonomy in daily operations.

Nice to have experience: 

• Experience with Kafka and securing real-time data processing capabilities

• Experience working in Blockchain or Crypto technologies
