The Opportunity

Venturis is looking for a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join our team remotely from Vancouver, BC. As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our networking and security infrastructure and optimizing our Azure cloud environment. The role also involves ensuring the security and reliability of our IT systems and networks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Infrastructure Engineer your key responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure, focusing on networking, security, and Azure cloud services
  • Deploy and manage network services including firewalls, VPNs, switches, and routers, ensuring optimal performance and security
  • To protect against cyber threats, implement and manage security protocols, such as network segmentation, intrusion detection, and threat prevention
  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain Azure SaaS Cloud Services, including Azure AD, Teams, Intune, AAD Connect, Exchange Online, and O365
  • Deploy and manage Azure IaaS Virtual Machines and Application and Networking Services
  • Implement Azure automation and DevOps practices to streamline operations
  • Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical operational users
  • Optimize Azure buildouts for cost and performance, including VM optimization and managing reserved instances
  • Recommend, develop, implement, and document IT projects comprehensively
  • Act as an escalation point for IT Systems Administrators and Helpdesk Support Technicians
  • Manage server environments using Windows Server 2012 – 2019 and ensure the security of the server infrastructure by implementing best practices
  • Provide expert management of Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365, server patching, and other Microsoft systems
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of network infrastructure by maintaining up-to-date system backups and disaster recovery plans
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency technical support

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in networking, IT infrastructure, and azure environments
  • Demonstrable expertise in Azure systems planning, security principles, and network management best practices
  • Proficiency in managing network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls, and in network security protocols
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles, including vulnerability management, incident response, and risk assessment
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps and automation solutions
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure 103/104, CCNA, CISSP) are preferred
  • Strong desire to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication, time management, and mentorship skills
  • Ability to travel to corporate locations within Canada if needed for project assignments, and potentially to the USA

The base pay range for this role is: $95,000 to $110,000 annually depending on experience, plus an annual performance bonus.

This is a remote role based in Vancouver, BC.
