About the position
We are seeking an innovative & collaborative Senior Storage Support Specialist to join our Core Technology Services (CTS) portfolio! Our group is continuously investing to deliver exceptional services in a world-class organization where automation is combined with best practice to streamline and standardize products as well as improve the speed of delivery for Canada’ Central Bank. 
 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Network & Storage Services, you will join a team of 12-15 members recognized for being diverse and inclusive and for being a dynamic team focused on being digital, ready, and resilient.

What you will do 
As a Senior Storage Support Specialist, you will provide level 2-3 ongoing technical support, maintenance, and improvement to the Bank’s current storage environments. You will also help us support and evolve our "Software Defined Data Centre", built on highly scalable hyper-converged systems of storage, network, security, compute, all enabled through code. Your mindset is to minimize infrastructure customization while being well versed in the merits of what CTS can already offer.  
 
More specifically, you will:

  • Work to assess diagnostic information and/or resolve uncommon or complex problems in a multi-functional setting, assessing, and communicating technological issues that affect the functional or corporate level, and implement solutions to resolve.
  • Support the technical team through an Agile/DevOps approach.
  • An understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, ETL strategies and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external counterparts (partners, clients and suppliers) to support operational objectives.
  • Mentor and provide direction and guidance to junior analysts.

 
Note - The nature of this work will require additional paid on-call as well as paid overtime. The Bank offers flexible work hours to accommodate.

 

What you need to succeed
You are self-motivated and independent, capable of finding solutions that challenge the status quo.  You are also a great team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate & coach colleagues within the team and ITS.
 In addition, you have:

  • Experience managing, administering, troubleshooting and the maintenance of Enterprise NetApp Storage Solutions, Commvault, Cloud ONTAP Volume or similar technologies.

Experience with:

  • Archive (Multi Cloud & On Premise)
  • File Storage Service 
  • Backup (Commvault)
  • Replication between Data Centres
  • Experience in a scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python and in creating automation scripts, deploying orchestration and automation processes and products.
  • The ability to support a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment.

 
Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of NetApp, Hitachi Virtual Storage (VSP), Unified Storage Solution (HUS), and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Experience with CommVault
  • Understanding of DevOps culture, methodologies, coding and automation (Ansible)
  • Hands on experience with Disaster recovery drills and Business continuity plans.
  • Hands on or good understanding on Cyber Security, GRC best practises with respect to data storage and backup and restore.


 Your education and experience 
Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the proficiencies and skills for the role.  We are ideally seeking candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues.   • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $106,739 to $125,575 (job grade 17)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
