As a Risk, Controls & Assurance Specialist, you'll drive the development and delivery of 2nd Line Assurance activities across NGV. You'll assist with implementation of and advisory on effective risk management and assurance activities aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and relevant frameworks.
You will have proven experience in delivering a range of risk and assurance activities in a Risk Management capacity. An ability to work to tight timescales to deliver quality assurance outputs whilst achieving high levels of customer satisfaction is essential.
This role is based from Warwick and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home.
Key accountabilities
- Execute on annual 2nd Line controls testing plan, lead in walkthroughs with stakeholders, documenting end-to-end processes, and conducting 2nd line controls testing documented in line with best practice and established methodology provided by the Group Chief Risk Office (CRO).
- Deliver assigned assurance plans to time, quality and ethical standards, proactively looking for areas of improvement and providing value adding and insightful recommendations that address control and process opportunities and issues.
- Provide best practice advice to 1st line risk and control owners on risk management and National Grid's ERM framework. Assist first line colleagues in completing the Control Self-Assessment Process and guide them on how to update the internal GRC Archer system.
- Support and coach 1st line risk owners and risk champions building an understanding of risk and controls.
About you
- Experience in a professional risk management field, audit/assurance, or related professional field, including experience working on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) projects or teams.
- Demonstrable knowledge in the development and practical application of Risk Management Frameworks.
- Proven understanding in the execution of control self-assessment and/or assurance activities, including experience with control design and independent and objective controls testing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders which operate collaboratively and innovatively.
- Professional Qualification in risk management, finance or audit from a recognised Institute (e.g., ERMCP, CRM, CRMP, ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CPA, CMIIA,CIA, CISM, CISA).
- Knowledge of NIST, ISO, HSE and Process Safety legislation and practical application is desirable.

A competitive salary between £46,000 - £50,000 – dependent on capability.
