The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) seek applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the area of Verification and Security of AI Systems. SCAI (https://scai.engineering.asu.edu/), one of the eight Fulton Schools, houses a vibrant Industrial Engineering and Computer Science Engineering research community (learn more at https://research.engineering.asu.edu/). We seek applicants who can enhance our abilities in these areas as part of a community of experts. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, security analysis of AI/ML systems; security analysis of expert systems; security analysis of composite systems; cybersecurity; adversarial examples; LLM security; security issues in human-automation interaction; emergent security issues in AI-augmented cyber physical system and peripherals; security of advanced algorithms; ML training attacks; privacy of ML; AI-driven security analysis; formal verification of AI/ML systems; compliance management of AI/ML systems; AI and computer network security; security of networks of AI agents; security of AI-enabled CPSes and related peripherals; security of computer networks; AI in protocol analysis; security issues in AI-as-a-service systems; anomaly detection; AI-enhanced malware analysis; AI in autonomous systems security; AI-based threat intelligence; AI-driven network resilience; and AI in secure communication.
SCAI currently houses multiple ASU Centers - including the Center for Assured and Scalable Engineering (CASCADE, https://cascade.asu.edu/), the Center for Accelerating Operational Efficiency (CAOE, https://caoe.asu.edu/), the Center for Biocomputing, Security and Society (CBSS, https://biodesign.asu.edu/biocomputing-security-and-society), the Center for Intelligent, Distributed, Embedded Applications and Systems (IDEAS https://ideasresearchcenter.org/), the Center for Secure, Trusted, and Assured Microelectronics (STAM, https://stamcenter.asu.edu), the Center for Cybersecurity and Trusted Foundations (CTF, https://globalsecurity.asu.edu/cybersecurity-and-trusted-foundations), and the ASU-Mayo Center for Innovative Imaging (AMCII, https://amcii.asu.edu) - and have a large number of faculty working on a variety of relevant topics.
We search for applicants who will contribute to our academic programs, promote transdisciplinary teaching and research, and help the university to achieve its aspirations, including enabling student success, transforming society, valuing entrepreneurship, and conducting use-inspired research. Faculty members in the Fulton Schools are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, adopt effective pedagogical practices in the development and delivery of graduate and undergraduate courses, advise both undergraduate and graduate student research and projects, and undertake service activities.
Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2025.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline by the time of appointment
- Evidence of excellence in research, as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
Desired qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and teaching
- Commitment to inclusive research and teaching practices
- Potential (for junior applicants) or evidence (for senior applicants) for establishing an externally funded research program
- Record of publications in top-tier journals/conferences as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
- Commitment to teaching at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels, including online courses
