Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.

Excellent understanding of IAM (Identity and Access Management), data protection, encryption, and network security in cloud environments.

Remote - Monday through Friday

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains information security policies as needed to maintain the data security of the Advocate Aurora Health Enterprise.  

  • Provides security solutions, designs, and reviews, develops and promotes corporate policy standards and procedures.

  • Develops security strategies, architectures and security requirements based on the business needs of Advocate Aurora Health.

  • Responsible for vulnerability assessments, IPS, IDS, firewall deployment and system hardening.

  • Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of the assets of Advocate Aurora Health and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

  • Educates users to raise security awareness and promote security policies. Where applicable, creates new policies and procedures.

  • Ensures the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security.

  • Performs Cybersecurity audits and monitors all production and test systems at Advocate Aurora Health. 

  • Provide comprehensive cybersecurity solutions and support for various network and system operational environment.

  • Ensures that end-computing community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability to data and resources exchanged.

  • Has networking and cybersecurity knowledge (understanding the cybersecurity impact) encompassing: Routers, Switches, VPN’s, VLAN’s, NDS, Internet, Intranet, Firewalls, IPS, IDS and Wireless Technologies.

  • Has a working cybersecurity knowledge with Protocols such as: TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, UDP, IPX, SNMP, WINS and DHCP.

  • Performs security audits with the latest network testing tools to ensure Advocate Aurora Health system standards and HIPAA compliance. Responsible for detecting, analyzing and eradicating cybersecurity problems.

  • Conducts risk assessment focused on information security throughout the organization, providing security risk evaluation and solutions to projects and initiatives.

  • Responsible for deploying intrusion detection systems throughout Advocate Aurora Health to provide a solid first line of defense against internal/external intrusion.

  • Responsible for performing daily analysis of intrusion type activity, this involves working with other departments for issue resolution and mitigation and documenting actions taken for audit, regulatory and legal purposes.

  • Provides top-level customer support.  

  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all internal and external customers. Manages expectations within the capabilities of the department.

  • Manages problem resolution process to ensure that all problems are resolved quickly.

  • Maintains and oversees the effective use of enterprise standard methods, practices and procedures for support reference materials and system documentation.

  • Escalates problems according to published procedures.

  • Continually develops technical knowledge and expertise. Keeps abreast of the latest PC and network hardware and software technologies by attending industry-related seminars, reading industry related publications, and attending user groups.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required:

None Required.

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Experience Required:

Typically requires 5 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) Cyber Security.

  • Team player with strong customer service, prioritization and time management skills.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously with a strong attention to detail and processes.

  • Ability and experience in writing clear and concise technical documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and learn new technologies.
