Your role

Reporting to the Associate Director Engineering, you will be collaborating with functional peers and the wider global cyber network, as you work to build a stable and fully functional ICT security engineering environment for our Australian operations, servicing national defence programs.   This role provides the opportunity to lead and support the provisioning and upkeep of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and solutions for the Australian Defense Force (ADF); including ICT support, troubleshooting customer issues in Software Support Systems and equipment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and develop a team of experienced cybersecurity engineering professionals, ensuring that the work of the team meets the current and future needs of the business
  • As a key technical leader, ensure that engineering staff receive the technical guidance, training and development required for them to perform their assigned roles
  • Lead and champion the development and implementation of new cyber security engineering approaches, plans, techniques and technologies to support continual improvement.
  • Solve complex problems by information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem, generating and evaluating solution options, making well-considered solution decisions and implementing the selected solution
  • Actively identify and manage risks and opportunities, including those that cross functional areas, in the best interests of the business
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and communicate effectively internally and externally to influence as required to ensure that programs are delivered to plan, and the associated products meet or exceed customer and business expectations
  • Collaborating with cross-functional project teams to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, document them, and contribute to risk mitigation efforts in partnership with the development teams.

Essential skills, attributes and experience

  • Prior experience and technical leadership of engineering and/or ICT projects in software development, cybersecurity and/or security operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to collaborate and work well with others in a professional team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the company as a technical expert at internal and external customer meetings .
  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree
  • Qualifications, Certifications or related prior experience as a Cyber Security tech support and/or Cyber Security Engineer.
  • Strong familiarity with the Commonwealth’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and relevant Information Security Management (ISM) controls required for the accreditation and recertification of ICT systems will be highly advantageous.
  • Prior experience working on Australian government and Defence projects.
  • Availability to undertake travel - domestic and where necessary international.
