Cyber System Security Engineer (CSSE)

DCS is looking for a CSSE to join our team at China Lake, CA, supporting the Navy's F/A-18 Integrated Product Team (IPT). CSSE is the combination of traditional systems engineering with cyber engineering. Knowledge of hardware and software design are incorporated in the CSSE role as systems are analyzed across all perspectives.
DCS is looking for individuals with air platform or weapons experience who are interested in learning and applying cyber engineering skills towards the development of engineering requirements and the conduct of Cyber Survivability Risk Assessments (CSRAs) and threat vector analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
Assess/determine cyber threats at the system, sub-system, hardware and software level.
Obtain, review, analyze system technical and programmatic documentation, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Specifications, and System Architectures
Research known vulnerability database sources (CVEs and CWEs) as they apply to system components and software under review.
Write reports based on findings according to Standard Work Packages (SWPs) or implementation guides.
Identify threat vectors and risks to the system throughout the lifecycle of the project through the conduct of engineering CSRAs.
Assist Program IA personnel in understanding how CSRA findings correlate to NIST 800-53 Risk Management Framework (RMF) and provide artifacts to assist in achieving an authority to operate (ATO).
Develop mitigation options.
Research known mitigations to system components and software under review.
Apply Defense-in-Depth approaches to achieve cyber protection objectives.
Brief mitigations to customers and tailor implementations of mitigations to meet customer requirements.
Support the development of software, supply chain and mission assurance plans.
Analyze software development practices and build/delivery pipelines.
Analyze and identify system/product/component origins and supply chain origins and all transfer points through final delivery and identify/document risks.
Understand mission essential functions and identify tools, tactics, techniques to provide physical and logical protections.
Assist with the development of engineering requirements that will strengthen cyber resiliency and mission effectiveness.
Foster a learning environment by providing ongoing support and guidance to team members as they develop their skills.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
A Bachelor degree with 5 plus years of relevant experience will also be considered. Will also consider candidates with high school diploma with 15 years of relevant experience or those with a Masters degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
Candidates will have an experiential background in Science/Engineering or Systems Engineering, possess either platform or weapon experience.
Be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Possess the ability to work independently and within a dynamic environment and adhere to strict information system security guidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal, and investigative skills.
Possess at minimum one of the following certifications: CEH, LPT, CPENT, CISSP, GRTP, GPEN, GXPN, Pentest+, OSEP, or OSCP.
Must be able to work onsite - This position is not remote work eligible.
Occasional travel may be required.
Possess high moral character and integrity.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or another related field. A master's degree is highly desirable.

Familiarity with Static Analysis Tools
Familiarity with Dynamic Analysis Tools
Highly organized, execution focused, accountable and driven by mission accomplishment.
Technical knowledge with a desired emphasis on current industry trends including Agile development techniques.
Familiarization with Agile and the ability to work within small groups or Scrum teams.
Familiarization with Agile tool sets and measurement practices.
