Physical Security Department

The Physical Security Department for Vantage Data Centers is very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all physical security networking, software, and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. We are always looking for ways to strike the best balance between technology, performance, and cost. Vantage Global Physical Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure. Position Overview

This role can be based in Santa Clara, CA.

The Security Operations Intern will work closely with the Security Operations to enhance and streamline security protocols. This role will focus on developing a structured security training program, defining Security Operations KPIs, and conducting data analysis to support continuous improvement. The intern will also assist in access management processes, reviewing access requests and rules to ensure optimal security standards.

Essential Job Functions

Security Training Program Development:

  • Assist in creating and implementing a role-specific security training program that aligns with departmental and organizational security requirements.

  • Collaborate with Security Operations and other departments to ensure training is relevant and adaptable to various roles and responsibilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Security Operations:

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Security Operations KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of security measures and identify improvement areas.

  • Track and report KPI data to provide insights that help optimize security operations and maintain compliance.

Data Analytics and Collaboration with Business Operations:

  • Work with the Business Operations team to gather and analyze security-related data to support informed decision-making within Security Operations.

  • Conduct data analysis on security metrics, performance, and trends to support reporting and planning initiatives.

Access Review and Management Support:

  • Support the Senior Security Manager (SSM) by reviewing access requests and rules within the security system, ensuring adherence to company policies and security standards.

  • Conduct periodic audits of access controls to maintain up-to-date and accurate permissions across all levels.

Additional Duties:

Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Cybersecurity.

Experience:

  • Rising Junior or Senior status

  • Minimum GPA requirement – 3.0

  • Previous Internship experience preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Positive and proactive attitude.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar software.

  • Knowledge of security operations principles, access management, and data analysis.

  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an interest in learning security management best practices.

Additional Details

  • Hourly Range: $20.00 - $25.00 

  • It is estimated that the internship will run from June 2, 2025, to August 15, 2025.
