WGL - Director, Digital, WGES
The Director, Digital – WGES will serve as a strategic business partner to key stakeholders, ensuring the pragmatic and effective delivery of digital services to WGL Energy Services (retail energy marketing business) and the broader Utilities team, reporting to the SVP, Chief Digital Officer. The successful candidate will drive digital transformation, innovation, and operational excellence, with a focus on modernizing the application stack and implementing more efficient sustainment models. They will successfully execute a complex transformation roadmap, positioning digital as a business enabler and catalyst for growth. This role will create alignment and efficiencies within WGL Energy Services, delivering exceptional service to stakeholders.
You will:
- Lead WGL Energy Services’ digital function by ensuring the pragmatic and effective delivery of all digital services. This includes setting strategic direction, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Advise WGL Energy Services leaders on industry best practices in retail energy from a digital and IT perspective. Provide insights on how these practices can impact the business positively and drive competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with leaders to create multi-year digital roadmaps aligned with business strategy and risk tolerance.
- Work with business stakeholders to capture requirements and ensure digital resources drive business outcomes, applying innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Partner with the Security Team and Utilities leaders to implement effective digital risk and cybersecurity practices
- Establish and maintain a digital organization capable of executing roadmaps, managing people, finances, vendors, resource capacity, performance, value, and communications
- Drive the successful execution of digital roadmaps through programs, projects, and initiatives, ensuring delivery on schedule, budget, quality, and outcomes.
- Oversee local Digital resources through indirect reporting relationships, partnering closely with shared services leads and the WGL Energy Services business leadership team to ensure alignment across the portfolio.
You have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of IT leadership experience, including enterprise architecture, solution delivery, applications management, infrastructure and operations, software engineering, cybersecurity, and IT risk and controls.
- Professional IT certifications in two or more areas such as IT4IT, PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, TOGAF, ITIL, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or CISM.
- Proven experience as a collaborative leader in complex, globally matrixed environments, leveraging shared technology services and centers of excellence.
- Strong influencing, analytical problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams, recruit, hire, develop, and retain top talent, and coach and mentor employees to develop leadership skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in navigating ambiguity and change, cultivating strong relationships with executives and key business partners, and driving change initiatives with a focus on accountability and timely project delivery.
- Adept at translating business strategy into targeted outcomes, capabilities, data, digital applications, and infrastructure.
- Extensive experience in technology, including various Salesforce clouds (service, utility, experience, marketing). Energy industry experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Product Oriented Delivery models, commercial and residential markets, and mass markets. Preference for DevOps and Agile project delivery methodologies.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary range of $173,000 - $237,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
