About the team:


Our Internal Audit team plays a critical role in delivering independent insight and assurance to protect and influence abrdn's strategy, supporting abrdn’s goals by evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of risk management, control, governance, and risk culture. With a global remit and colleagues in Edinburgh, London, Singapore, and Frankfurt, we provide assurance to the Board, Audit Committees, and the abrdn Executive.

About the role:

We’re seeking a talented and experienced IT Audit Manager to join our team in Edinburgh. Reporting to the Head of Audit, you’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering internal audit reviews related to enterprise technology, cyber security, and operational resilience. abrdn’s ongoing technology investment drives efficiency and growth, and Internal Audit’s role is to provide assurance that key technology risks are effectively managed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Our Business and Risks: Gain deep insight into abrdn’s technology landscape and risks, focusing on areas like cyber security, operational resilience, and emerging risks such as Artificial Intelligence. Provide insight to stakeholders and the internal audit team on these risks.

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Manage relationships with IT leadership, delivering valuable audit insights and ensuring audit alignment with key business risks.

  • Lead IT Audit Portfolio: Oversee the IT audit portfolio, managing resources, and prioritizing audits. Deliver the portfolio on time, focused on key risks, and aligned with quality standards.

  • Root Cause Analysis and Reporting: Identify root causes of issues, recommending practical, sustainable solutions. Produce impactful reports that communicate technical issues clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Team Development: Provide management and development support for junior colleagues, identifying training needs to strengthen both the team and their career prospects.

  • Leadership Team Support: Support the Head of Audit and Internal Audit leadership in fostering a culture of high performance and innovation.

  • Innovation: Support continuous improvement through digital innovations and by embracing new methods and tools to enhance ways of working.

About the candidate:

  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP).

  • Experience in end-to-end assurance reviews covering areas like cyber security, technology resilience, and cloud solutions.

  • Line management or supervision experience of junior colleagues.

  • Knowledge of UK, EMEA, and global technology regulations such as Operational Resilience, DORA, and GDPR.

  • Familiarity with frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO27001, NIST.

  • Experience auditing Cloud environments and services (e.g., Azure, AWS).

  • Experience auditing Identity and Access Management solutions (e.g., Active Directory, EntraID).
