SECURITY OPERATIONS ENGINEER

WELLINGBOROUGH (HYBRID)

As Security Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the bank’s information security toolsets. This hands-on technical position involves administering solutions such as vulnerability scanning, endpoint security, and web and email filtering. You will also act as the first line of defence, triaging security events and alerts.

Salary will be in the region of £42,000 - £50,000. Based in our Wellingborough head office you will have the flexibility to work from home up to two days per week.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

  • Administering information security tools including patch management, antimalware, antivirus, vulnerability scanners, and web/email filters.
  • Responding to security events and alerts, performing initial triage and logging incidents in the ITSM toolset.
  • Reviewing and assessing held emails for risks and policy breaches.
  • Evaluating service requests for filter rule changes, create implementation plans, and prepare approval documentation.
  • Conducting root cause analysis on incidents in collaboration with the service desk.
  • Assisting in evaluating new solutions to ensure they meet information security standards.
  • Update processes and work instructions to reflect changes in information security policies.
  • Creating relevant reports for governance, audit, and managerial purposes.
  • Ensuring compliance with governance processes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 1-2 years in a security operations role, or at least 5 years in an infrastructure or service desk role which includes some experience with security operations.
  • Deep technical prowess across a broad spectrum of digital technologies
  • Good understanding of technical architecture and security aspects of infrastructure, application, web, and cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, PCI, CMA, FCA obligations etc).
  • A track record of delivering business benefits by balancing the need to protect the organisation with the need to do business.
  • Security Management Certification such as CISSP, CISA, or CompTIA Security+, CASP.

IT WOULD BE NICE FOR YOU TO HAVE

  • Vendor certifications and / or ITIL Foundation v4, but this is not essential.
