Position Overview and Responsibilities:
As an Cyber Security Analyst II in the Office of Information Technology, your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares evaluations of software and hardware based on established security guidelines and submits recommendations to management. The evaluation may include reading manuals, security papers, and testing system functionality and security outcomes.
- Installs, configures, and updates software, such as antivirus, firewalls and other security endpoint monitoring tools.
- Responds to and resolves incidents regarding security incidents and alerts, such as removing viruses, quarantining infected files, restoring backups or reporting violations.
- Performs operating system reimaging or software removals, when needed, to address incidents based on system alerts.
- Educates and trains users and staff on computer security best practices, such as creating strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links or attachments, and reporting issues or concerns.
- Researches and stays updated on the latest computer security trends, threats, techniques, and solutions to provide authoritative information or advice on computer systems and programs.
- Modifies and monitors computer configuration and data files to incorporate new software and virus protection systems, correct errors, or change individual access status. Implements continuous automated security compliance capabilities.
- Ensures assigned tickets are resolved and keeps records of remedial actions taken.
- Other duties as necessary to fulfill expanding and changing roles/responsibilities of this strategic position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Personal Computers - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of a PC.
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts, protocols, and network security.
- Knowledge of Office Software - Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Teamwork - Communicate and coordinate with peers, supervisor, and other staff.
- Security and Confidentiality - Maintain all job-related information secure and confidential in order to protect workplace information and to assure compliance with confidentiality requirements. Enforce industry best practices regarding information security. Skill in identifying and containing malware, securing network communications, and protecting against vulnerabilities.
- Customer Service - Interface with internal/external customers in order to provide information, explain procedures, answer questions and provide support.
- Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Position requires sedentary work and repetitive motion.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a cybersecurity role or position. Must have experience performing incident response and security monitoring tasks.
- On-Call Assignment – Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duties may include hours in excess of an employee’s routine work schedule (working extended hours, weekends, or holidays).
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those technicians who have experience with:
- Microsoft Configuration Manager
- Windows 10
- Active Directory
- Office 365
